“Always Looking for a Better Way to Do Things.”
Edward Troianello is a highly accomplished executive leader, entrepreneur, and operations strategist whose career spans more than four decades of transformational leadership across logistics, warehouse management, transportation, software development, real estate, oil and gas, and operational consulting. As President and CEO of Quality Software Systems, Inc. (QSSI), Ed has built a reputation as a visionary executive who combines deep operational expertise with a relentless commitment to innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated an ability to identify opportunities, solve complex organizational challenges, and create scalable solutions that generate measurable business results.
Ed’s professional journey began after earning his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Villanova University. Armed with strong financial acumen and analytical discipline, he entered the corporate world with Amerada Hess Corporation, where he quickly established himself as a talented auditor and systems thinker. During his tenure, he developed innovative systems for tracking worldwide ship and barge movements, introduced exception-reporting software that accelerated audit procedures, and implemented statistical sampling methodologies that improved audit coverage while reducing organizational risk. His early experiences provided a unique foundation that combined accounting expertise, operational analysis, and technology-driven problem solving.
As his career progressed, Ed advanced through multiple leadership positions within Amerada Hess, ultimately supervising critical financial operations associated with the construction and launch of a major refinery project. Managing approximately $180 million in expenditures within a ten-month period, he demonstrated exceptional financial oversight and operational discipline. His ability to build systems that tracked thousands of construction workers and equipment rentals contributed to significant cost reductions and showcased his capacity to improve operational visibility through technology and process innovation.
Ed’s leadership trajectory accelerated when he joined Edison Properties, a diversified real estate organization with holdings in parking operations, self-storage facilities, and commercial properties. Over an eleven-year period, he held increasingly senior leadership positions, including Director of Special Projects, Vice President of Manhattan Mini Storage, Senior Vice President of Systems, and ultimately Chief Operating Officer. These roles provided him with extensive experience managing large-scale operations, organizational restructuring, financial performance, technology implementation, and strategic growth initiatives.
As Vice President of Manhattan Mini Storage, Ed demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurial leadership by helping establish what became Manhattan’s largest self-storage company. Through innovative service offerings, strategic marketing initiatives, and operational enhancements, he increased company income by more than fifty percent annually. He designed and implemented reservation systems that boosted sales by over four hundred percent while introducing complementary products and services that significantly increased profitability. His ability to identify market opportunities and convert them into sustainable revenue streams became a defining characteristic of his executive leadership style.
During his tenure as Senior Vice President of Systems and later Chief Operating Officer at Edison Properties, Ed led major organizational transformations that improved accountability, efficiency, and financial performance. He managed a $125 million operation with responsibility for approximately 1,400 employees while implementing advanced reporting systems across more than 135 locations. Under his leadership, customer satisfaction improved dramatically, operating expenses were reduced, organizational structures were streamlined, and profitability increased even during challenging economic conditions. His success was driven by a unique ability to align people, processes, and technology toward common business objectives.
In 1995, Ed acquired Quality Software Systems, Inc. and began building what would become one of the industry’s most respected warehouse management software organizations. Under his leadership, QSSI developed PowerHouse/WMS, a sophisticated warehouse management platform that serves customers throughout the world. Recognizing that successful software implementation requires more than technology alone, Ed focused on creating solutions grounded in real-world operational experience. His philosophy centered on understanding the day-to-day challenges warehouse operators face and designing systems that improve accuracy, productivity, labor utilization, and customer service.
Throughout his leadership at QSSI, Ed established and managed a successful Value Added Reseller network supporting implementations throughout the United States, Singapore, Korea, Australia, and other international markets. His global perspective, combined with extensive operational expertise, enabled him to guide customers through complex supply chain challenges while delivering measurable improvements in warehouse performance. His work has helped organizations reduce operating costs, increase inventory accuracy, streamline workflows, and enhance customer satisfaction through practical technology solutions.
A recognized authority in warehouse management and logistics, Ed has spent more than thirty years working directly with distribution centers, transportation operations, and supply chain organizations. His expertise encompasses warehouse operations, transportation management, inventory control, logistics optimization, process improvement, organizational development, software implementation, systems integration, auditing, and operational strategy. He has become known for his ability to bridge the gap between executive strategy and frontline execution, ensuring that business initiatives translate into sustainable operational improvements.
Beyond his executive accomplishments, Ed is an inventor and thought leader within the logistics industry. He holds a patent involving sealing plate technology and has contributed to logistics-related publications throughout his career. He is also a confident public speaker who enjoys sharing insights related to operations, warehouse management, business growth, and organizational effectiveness. His contributions have earned him respect among peers, customers, and industry leaders alike.
Ed’s leadership philosophy is rooted in service, accountability, and continuous improvement. He believes that every organization can become more efficient, more productive, and more effective when leaders remain committed to learning and innovation. Whether implementing a warehouse management system, restructuring an organization, or advising a growing company, he approaches every challenge with curiosity, discipline, and a determination to create meaningful value. This mindset has enabled him to remain successful across multiple industries and economic environments.
In addition to his professional achievements, Ed has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community involvement and volunteer leadership. He has spent decades coaching youth soccer, basketball, and baseball while supporting food banks and community distribution programs. He previously served as Chairman of the Self-Service Storage Association of New York and was President of one of New Jersey’s largest cycling clubs. These experiences reflect his belief that leadership extends beyond business and into service to others.
Today, Ed continues to lead QSSI while actively exploring opportunities to serve organizations in advisory and board capacities. His extensive executive leadership experience, combined with his expertise in operations, logistics, technology implementation, financial oversight, and organizational transformation, positions him as a valuable strategic resource for companies seeking growth, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability.
