Published on:

Julie A. Nagle is a seasoned and forward-thinking Human Resources Executive with over 25 years of experience transforming HR organizations and advising executive leadership teams across professional services, financial services, and technology sectors. Throughout her career, she has earned a reputation as a dynamic change agent with a strong track record of aligning business and people strategies to drive organizational growth, enhance culture, and increase enterprise value.

Julie’s leadership journey began with foundational roles at Boeing and Sony Electronics, where she developed broad expertise in employee and labor relations, recruiting, benefits, compensation, and training. At Sony, she began introducing strategic HR practices such as mentoring programs, performance management, and succession planning—laying the groundwork for her future as a transformational HR leader.

Julie gained significant recognition during her tenure at Forsythe Technology, where she played a central role in the company’s transformation into a 100% employee-owned organization. Under her HR leadership, Forsythe’s share value quadrupled, and the company successfully integrated 10 acquisitions. Julie oversaw all aspects of change management, organizational design, employee engagement, and compensation strategy. She partnered directly with the board and compensation committee to develop and implement a comprehensive executive and professional compensation philosophy.

Her impact continued at Harris Associates, a global investment firm managing over $140 billion in assets, where she transitioned the HR function from operational to strategic. She led initiatives in performance management, succession planning, and executive coaching, and implemented a firmwide HR and payroll system to streamline operations. Under her leadership, Harris was named one of the Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces.

Julie later served as SVP of Human Resources at Trustwave, a global cybersecurity firm. There, she led the integration of three acquisitions in preparation for a public offering, collaborated with the board to implement a global compensation and stock option plan, and spearheaded a cultural transformation initiative that included launching an employee engagement survey with 92% participation.

Most recently, Julie served as Managing Director of Human Resources at Environmental Systems Design (now part of Stantec), where she introduced enterprise-wide talent strategies, including 9-box talent assessments, leadership development, and internal mobility programs. She worked closely with the company’s DEI Council to implement initiatives focused on attraction, culture, and community. In 2022, the organization earned the Great Place to Work certification—and in 2023, the company was sold, resulting in a 2.5x increase in its original value, further underscoring the impact of her people-first approach on enterprise performance.

Julie is recognized not only for her deep technical HR expertise—spanning talent acquisition, organizational development, succession planning, M&A integration, and compliance—but also for her ability to lead with empathy, mentor rising leaders, and create values-based cultures. She has extensive experience supporting global operations across North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

She holds a dual B.A. in Employment Relations and Psychology from Michigan State University and completed the Human Resources Management Program through the University of Stockholm. She is certified in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Korn Ferry’s Leadership Architect® Competency Modeling, and Predictive Index.

An active member of SHRM and the Human Resources Management Association of Chicago (HRMAC), Julie is now seeking board opportunities where she can contribute her unique lens as a senior HR leader. She brings global perspective, private equity experience, and deep insight into people strategy—an area increasingly critical to boardrooms seeking to address talent, culture, and organizational resilience.

Julie enjoys snow skiing, boating, and international travel. She brings the same curiosity and energy to her personal life as she does to her professional endeavors—always focused on growth, purpose, and meaningful impact.
