With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Robert W. Walker, CPA, has consistently exemplified a commitment to financial integrity, operational excellence, and people-first leadership. Based in Cypress, Texas, Robert’s journey from the early days of auditing to becoming a transformative force in HR analytics, corporate finance, and strategic organizational leadership tells a compelling story of versatility, vision, and results-driven dedication. His professional ethos is rooted in the belief that sustainable success comes from meticulous financial stewardship, data-driven decision-making, and empowering those he leads to rise to their fullest potential.

Robert’s academic foundation began with a BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at San Antonio, launching a career that would soon span the globe and touch nearly every facet of finance and HR operations. Beginning with Ernst & Young in San Antonio as a Staff Auditor, Robert quickly cultivated a deep understanding of auditing standards and best practices. These early years built his fluency in compliance and internal controls—skills that would become essential in every role thereafter.

As his career evolved, Robert demonstrated his remarkable adaptability across industries and business functions. His tenure with firms such as Service Corporation International, Schlumberger’s Geo-Prakla division, and Veritas DGS was characterized by progressive responsibility. He transitioned seamlessly from auditing into financial leadership, ultimately holding roles such as Shared Service Controller, Division Controller, and Senior Accounting Supervisor. In each capacity, Robert brought a laser focus to streamlining operations, ensuring SOX compliance, and refining budgetary controls.

His strategic acumen took center stage during his years at Dresser-Rand and CGG Veritas, where he served in various financial and operational leadership roles. As Manager of Corporate Accounting at Dresser-Rand, Robert enhanced financial reporting standards, facilitated audit readiness, and led the successful compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley within just seven months. Later, as Interim Controller and then Purchasing Director at CGG, he made a remarkable impact by standardizing procurement processes across North and South America—achieving over $11M in savings in four years through disciplined negotiation and operational restructuring.

Robert’s trajectory continued upward when he joined Crestwood Midstream Partners, where his expertise in both HR and finance converged. As VP of HR Information Systems & Analytics, and earlier as Senior Director of Corporate HR, he led enterprise-level HR analytics, budgeting, and compensation reporting. He championed a major transformation of the payroll budgeting process, transforming it into a vital strategic planning tool company-wide. Robert oversaw multi-million-dollar budget cycles for employee compensation, benefits, and equity payouts, all while mentoring a high-performing team of directors.

A hallmark of Robert’s leadership is his dual competency in human capital management and corporate finance—a rare and potent combination. His ability to drive data-backed HR decisions while maintaining a firm grip on financial accountability has distinguished him as a multifaceted executive leader. At Crestwood, he authored executive compensation reports for the board, streamlined payroll operations across multiple entities, and contributed meaningfully as a member of the 401(k) Investment Committee.

Robert’s recent years as an Independent Consultant reflect both his continued relevance and adaptability in a rapidly changing corporate landscape. Through projects with companies such as Flotek Industries, Equipment Transport LLC, and Certerra (formerly RMA Companies), he has tackled critical assignments including federal payroll reporting, legacy data corrections post-system conversion, ACH payment streamlining, and accounts receivable reconciliations. Notably, his stewardship of the PPP loan process at Flotek resulted in a 98% forgiveness rate, a testament to his precision and regulatory command.

Beyond technical expertise, Robert is known for his thoughtful mentorship and steadfast commitment to building strong teams. He has consistently nurtured talent into leadership roles, recognizing that empowering others is key to long-term organizational success. His colleagues describe him as approachable yet exacting, a strategist who sees both the numbers and the people behind them.

As he looks toward board service, Robert is deeply motivated by the opportunity to contribute to nonprofit organizations and emerging enterprises.
