Glen Hartman: Connecting Creativity, Technology, Data, and People to Turn Complexity into Meaningful Growth

Published on:

Glen Hartman is a transformative business leader, board director, advisor, and growth executive whose career has been defined by an ability to bring together disciplines that are too often managed separately. Across more than three decades of executive leadership, he has helped organizations connect creativity, technology, data, customer experience, strategy, and talent to create businesses, products, services, and teams capable of sustained growth. Colleagues have often viewed Glen as a translator—someone who can bridge the language of technologists, creatives, strategists, marketers, operators, and investors and align them around a shared vision. That ability to make the complex understandable and actionable has become one of the defining themes of his career.

Today, Glen serves as Chief Executive Officer of North America for JAKALA, a global data, AI, marketing, commerce, and experience consultancy with more than $650 million in revenue and approximately 3,500 team members. In this role, he leads the North American business across strategy, operations, growth, go-to-market execution, business-line development, and P&L management. He also serves on the company’s board and leads relationships with major technology and ecosystem partners, bringing together platforms, data, creativity, and consulting capabilities to help leading brands compete in an increasingly AI-enabled marketplace. His responsibilities also include organic and inorganic growth, acquisition integration, and the development of new offerings designed to address rapidly changing customer and enterprise needs.

Prior to JAKALA, Glen spent more than fourteen years helping build what became one of the most consequential digital transformation businesses in the global professional-services industry. He was one of the founders of Accenture Interactive, now Accenture Song, and co-authored its initial business plan and strategic vision. He launched the organization’s first digital transformation strategy practice and helped expand the business from its early-stage roots into a global enterprise with more than 125 locations. For more than a decade, Glen led Accenture Interactive North America, overseeing a multibillion-dollar P&L and a team of more than 4,500 people while helping establish the organization as Accenture’s highest-growth business.

His leadership at Accenture extended well beyond operational scale. Glen directed North American M&A strategy and integration across numerous creative, digital, commerce, technology, and experience companies, including organizations such as Fjord, Acquity, Meredith Xcelerated Marketing, The Stable, and Droga5. He later assumed global responsibility for commerce and ecosystem partnerships, working across relationships with Adobe, Salesforce, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Meta, SAP, Oracle, Shopify, and other major technology platforms. His work focused on creating new solutions at the intersection of AI, data-driven customer experience, commerce, cloud services, digital media, marketing platforms, managed services, and emerging technologies. Throughout this period, he developed a reputation for identifying where markets were headed and then building the teams, partnerships, and operating structures required to capture those opportunities.

Earlier in his career, Glen held senior operating, strategy, marketing, and growth leadership roles across technology, consulting, research, and agency businesses. As President and Executive Managing Director of the digital agency business at Harte-Hanks, he led vision, growth strategy, P&L management, M&A, and the expansion of digital capabilities across branding, creative, media, CRM, data, analytics, and commerce. At Horn Group, he launched a digital practice, served as Chief Digital Officer, and advised C-suite leaders on digital disruption and transformation. He also served as President and COO of KSciences, where he led strategy, global relationships, operating performance, and significant year-over-year growth.

Glen’s earlier executive experience further demonstrates the range of his leadership capabilities. At Identify Software, he led global marketing and corporate strategy, drove North American go-to-market growth, managed product strategy and positioning, supported acquisition integration, and helped lead an eventual exit to BMC Software. As Chief Marketing Officer of Giga Information Group, he held a seat on the executive committee and led worldwide marketing, brand development, business development, product management, and international expansion. His work contributed to substantial revenue growth and included leadership in IPO communications and global market-entry strategy. Taken together, these roles gave Glen firsthand experience with nearly every stage of enterprise development—from emerging companies and high-growth scaling environments to public-company leadership, acquisitions, integrations, global expansion, and complex transformation.

His board and advisory work reflects the same breadth. Glen has served as a board member and advisor to organizations in media, software, entertainment, digital product engineering, and social-impact sectors, while also advising private equity firms and their portfolio companies on growth strategy, market positioning, transformation, and value creation. His current and recent affiliations include Scratch Global, a music and technology company focused on personalized audio advertising; Entertainment To Affect Change; and private equity advisory relationships. These experiences enable him to approach board service not only as a strategist, but as an operator who understands the realities facing executive teams when priorities must be converted into measurable results.

Glen’s influence also extends into the broader business and marketing community. He was cited by Forbes as a “Top 10 Influencer” in digital and was named among Adweek’s Top 50 leaders in marketing, media, and technology. His perspectives have appeared in outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Fortune, and Advertising Age, and he has participated in thought leadership connected to the World Economic Forum. His published work has explored subjects such as digital transformation, the evolving role of the CMO, and the critical collaboration required between marketing and technology leaders as organizations become more customer-centric and digitally enabled.

At the center of Glen’s leadership philosophy is a belief that exceptional performance begins with empathy, trust, curiosity, and the ability to recognize the strengths of others. He has consistently sought to build multidisciplinary teams in which creative thinkers, technologists, strategists, operators, and commercial leaders can contribute at their highest level. His experience leading diversity and inclusion initiatives and building balanced leadership teams reinforces his conviction that different perspectives are not simply cultural assets—they are essential ingredients for innovation, better decision-making, and long-term business performance.

Music, particularly jazz, provides the most personal expression of that philosophy. Glen studied music performance and composition and worked as a professional musician and composer, experiences that continue to influence the way he thinks about leadership. For him, jazz illustrates the dynamic balance between preparation and improvisation, individual excellence and collaboration, listening and leading. In both music and business, Glen believes that the most memorable outcomes emerge when talented people trust one another enough to explore, adapt, and create something greater than any individual contribution.

That perspective also informs his commitment beyond the corporate world. Glen has supported and served organizations focused on music, film, arts education, community development, mental-health advocacy, and social impact. His involvement with organizations such as The Confess Project of America, Jazz Urbane Café, Makelight Media, and Entertainment To Affect Change reflects a broader belief that leadership carries responsibilities beyond financial results. Whether helping scale a global enterprise, advising an emerging company, contributing in the boardroom, or supporting community organizations, Glen is motivated by the opportunity to create meaningful impact while helping other people succeed.

As Glen looks toward his next chapter of board service, he brings the perspective of an executive who has experienced growth, disruption, acquisition, integration, innovation, global expansion, organizational change, and market reinvention firsthand. Several of his board commitments have reached or are approaching the conclusion of their intended terms, and he is seeking opportunities where his experience can help leadership teams and fellow directors navigate complex growth agendas. With decades of operating experience and a proven history of board participation, Glen offers organizations a rare combination of strategic perspective and practical execution—a “been there, done that” understanding of the opportunities and challenges that accompany high-growth businesses.
