Chris Vercelli is a results-driven global sales executive and general manager with more than 34 years of proven success in building and scaling enterprise technology businesses. Throughout his career, Chris has led large-scale revenue transformations across software and technology organizations, emphasizing enterprise workload automation, IT process automation, business process automation, and data analytics. With a career that spans from high-growth startups to Fortune 500 companies, Chris is a seasoned architect of performance-based cultures and predictable revenue engines.

Chris’s legacy is rooted in his ability to transform underperforming teams and drive exponential growth. At BMC Software, he led a standalone business unit from $7 million to $137 million in just three years—an achievement that broke company records and ultimately positioned that division as the number-one business unit within a $2.2 billion organization. His tenures have consistently shown a pattern: operational rigor, process refinement, and people development that lead to rapid, sustainable growth.

A standout moment in Chris’s career was his tenure at Automic Software, where he served as Chief Sales Officer and SVP of Global Sales. Under his leadership, revenue surged from €100M to €135M in just 30 months. This incredible momentum contributed directly to Automic’s $635M acquisition by CA Technologies. His approach to scaling global teams—spanning North America, EMEA, and APAC—blends hands-on leadership with strategic foresight, making him an invaluable asset to any boardroom or executive team.

Chris also played a pivotal role in transforming Treasure Data, increasing U.S. and Rest of World ARR by 41% year-over-year to $23M, and helping grow the company from $51M to $107M ARR. His strategic leadership and deep understanding of customer engagement helped Treasure Data scale globally while delivering value to enterprise clients navigating digital transformation.

Beyond operational excellence, Chris has built his career on the ability to connect strategic vision with tactical execution. At SnapLogic, he led the Americas region as VP, managing a 54-person sales and services organization, including enterprise sales, commercial sales, and customer delivery functions. Chris implemented cross-functional processes that improved revenue predictability, enhanced pipeline health, and bolstered post-sale success.

Currently, Chris serves in several advisory and board roles, including with ProofPitch, where he is helping shape the North American go-to-market (GTM) strategy. He is also a GTM Advisor at AppFaktors and previously served as a board member and GTM advisor for Calyptia, a company acquired by Chronosphere. These roles speak to his continued relevance and insight in today’s rapidly evolving tech landscape, even as he transitions into retirement.

International experience is a key dimension of Chris’s profile. He has conducted business and built teams across Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, and the former Czechoslovakia, among others. His global exposure has given him a nuanced understanding of diverse markets and customer behaviors, further enriching his strategic value to boards with international ambitions.

Chris is also an accomplished public speaker, regularly presenting on topics including data migration, cloud migration, sales process development, and pipeline generation. While he has no formal publications, his leadership and insights have been widely recognized within the organizations he’s served. He’s a firm believer in sharing real, actionable content that helps sales professionals engage with precision and authenticity.

Outside of work, Chris is a sports fisherman, avid boater, and passionate cook. These hobbies reflect his values of patience, precision, and creativity—qualities that he also brings to his professional pursuits. His personal motto, “Be compassionate to others,” underscores his leadership philosophy: lead with empathy, reward performance, and inspire excellence.

As a retired executive still active in advisory roles, Chris is seeking additional board opportunities that align with his expertise and values. His desire to continue contributing stems from a belief that his experiences—particularly in scaling companies, rebuilding failing units, and developing leaders—can help guide organizations through growth and transformation.
