Throughout his professional journey, Dr. Prehn has consistently demonstrated a commitment to improving patient outcomes, strengthening healthcare organizations, mentoring future leaders, and helping institutions navigate complex challenges with clarity and confidence.

Born and raised in Wausau, Wisconsin, Dr. Prehn developed an early appreciation for hard work, education, and community service. These foundational values guided him through his academic pursuits at the University of Wisconsin, where he graduated with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Parasitology before continuing his education at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. His passion for medicine, science, and service ultimately led him to pursue a career in Otolaryngology, a specialty that would allow him to combine technical expertise with meaningful patient relationships.

Following medical school, Dr. Prehn completed a General Surgery Internship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago before returning to the University of Wisconsin to complete his Residency in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery. During these formative years, he refined the clinical skills, analytical thinking, and leadership capabilities that would become hallmarks of his professional success. His dedication to excellence earned him board certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology and recognition as a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

In 1996, Dr. Prehn and his wife, Denise Prehn, M.D., relocated to Wisconsin’s Fox Valley region, where he joined Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists of Wisconsin. As a founding partner of what would become one of the largest Otolaryngology practices in the state, he played a pivotal role in transforming a specialty clinic into a thriving healthcare enterprise. Through strategic planning, operational oversight, physician recruitment, and adoption of emerging medical technologies, Dr. Prehn helped build an organization that now employs more than eighty professionals and serves patients across multiple communities throughout Wisconsin.

Throughout his clinical career, Dr. Prehn has maintained a reputation for exceptional patient care and medical expertise. He has served on the Executive Board of the Bay Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Executive Board of St. Thomas Church, and currently serves on the Executive Board of The Grand Opera House in Oshkosh. These experiences have allowed him to contribute his leadership expertise outside of healthcare while supporting organizations that enrich communities, foster personal development, and promote cultural engagement.
