“Make the rest of my life, the best of my life.”
Stephanie A. Rowe is a distinguished accounting and finance executive whose 25-year career reflects a rare blend of technical mastery, operational leadership, and an unwavering commitment to organizational excellence. Her journey from early academic distinction to executive roles in publicly traded companies—and ultimately to board leadership and academia—demonstrates a lifelong dedication to elevating financial integrity, empowering teams, and strengthening the structures that help organizations thrive.
Born with an affinity for numbers and problem-solving, Stephanie began her academic career at Rutgers University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting with minors in Russian and Women’s Studies. These fields fostered her analytical mindset while broadening her cultural and interpersonal awareness, traits that would later define her professional approach. She continued her formal training with a Master of Science in Accountancy from the Keller Graduate School of Management, solidifying the technical foundation that would support her multifaceted career.
Stephanie’s early professional years were shaped at Deloitte & Touche, one of the most rigorous environments in public accounting. As a Senior Accountant, she led SEC audit engagements, supervised audit teams, and developed a disciplined understanding of regulatory frameworks and financial reporting standards. Her work with major clients, including publicly traded corporations, established her reputation for precision, accountability, and the ability to navigate complex and high-pressure environments.
Her transition into operational accounting roles allowed her to expand her influence beyond compliance and auditing. At Credit Suisse and Knight Capital Group in New York, Stephanie took on progressively senior responsibilities, serving as AVP, Vice President, and Controller across investment banking and capital markets divisions. There, she managed legal entity financials, oversaw consolidations, executed purchase accounting, and led cross-functional teams through integration and reporting processes. These roles deepened her exposure to the financial services industry and honed her capacity to drive accuracy and transparency in fast-moving, highly regulated environments.
Stephanie’s leadership matured further as she stepped into director and senior management roles, including Director of Accounting and Finance at ICON Capital Corp. and Senior Accounting Manager at Raley’s. In these positions, she guided critical functions such as fixed assets, banking, co-op receivables, and corporate reporting. Her ability to manage large teams while balancing strategic and tactical responsibilities demonstrated her strength as both a leader and a practitioner. She negotiated contracts, authored financial statements, and improved departmental efficiencies, leaving behind systems and processes that continue to benefit the organizations she served.
Her expertise became particularly prominent in the manufacturing and life sciences industries, where she assumed Controller and Assistant Controller roles at L3 Technologies (Narda Microwave-West) and Cesca Therapeutics. Stephanie oversaw full-cycle accounting operations, manufacturing cost accounting, consolidations, SOX compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and team leadership. She managed audits with external partners, built internal controls, and improved reporting structures that supported organizational growth. In these roles, Stephanie established herself as a strategic financial leader capable of balancing day-to-day oversight with long-term organizational planning.
Stephanie’s career also includes a meaningful chapter in nonprofit financial management. As Accounting Manager for Tides, she supervised the accounting activities of nearly 200 nonprofit entities, revised revenue recognition policies, and prepared financial statements for the parent organization. This experience reinforced her dedication to mission-driven work and highlighted her ability to adapt her expertise to organizations of varying size, complexity, and purpose.
In parallel to her corporate accomplishments, Stephanie built a respected career in academia. As an Accounting Professor at Sacramento City College and Lecturer at California State University–Sacramento, she has taught foundational and advanced accounting courses using in-person, hybrid, and online modalities. She has designed curricula, mentored students, led faculty training on online teaching practices, and earned recognition for excellence in instruction. Her work in education not only enriches the next generation of finance professionals but also sharpens her ability to explain complex financial concepts with clarity and confidence—an invaluable asset to her board and leadership roles.
Today, Stephanie serves on two boards: the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Union as Secretary/Treasurer and Capital Stage Theater as Secretary and member of the Finance Committee. In these capacities, she supports budget development, financial oversight, organizational governance, and executive hiring. Her board service reflects her belief in strengthening institutions through responsible stewardship, transparent communication, and collaborative problem-solving. Currently Stephanie is working on completing the CEP (certified equity professional) certification.
Stephanie’s personal philosophy—“Make the rest of my life, the best of my life”—embodies her approach to continued growth, lifelong learning, and service. Whether in corporate settings, academic environments, or nonprofit organizations, she brings a thoughtful, disciplined, and values-driven presence that inspires confidence and advances meaningful progress.
