Alex Hammel is an accomplished financial executive, entrepreneur, strategic advisor, board leader, and CPA whose career spans approximately 27 years across public accounting, corporate finance, venture backed businesses, investor owned organizations, professional services, and portfolio companies. Throughout his career, Alex has helped organizations understand their economic drivers, navigate consequential decisions, build scalable financial and operational infrastructure, and translate strategy into sustainable growth. His experience encompasses organic expansion, mergers and acquisitions, capital strategy, turnarounds, operational improvement, and successful exits, giving him a broad perspective on how organizations create value at different stages of maturity.
Today, Alex is Founder and Principal of ClearPoint Advisory, where he applies his financial, operational, and strategic expertise to help organizations strengthen performance, navigate growth, and create long term enterprise value. Through ClearPoint Advisory, Alex currently works with Greenfield Growth Partners as a client engagement, contributing expertise in financial strategy, operational efficiency, strategic planning, and value creation across portfolio businesses. His approach extends beyond traditional financial reporting, focusing on identifying the fundamental drivers of a business, establishing meaningful performance measures, improving decision making, and connecting financial objectives with operational execution.
A defining chapter of Alex’s career was his 15 years with Commercial Restoration Company, where he served as a minority owner, CFO, and board member. During his tenure, Alex helped scale CRC from a 20 person regional contractor into a national platform, contributing financial leadership, strategic planning, organizational infrastructure, and board level perspective as the company expanded. This experience strengthened his understanding of the financial and operational disciplines required to transform an entrepreneurial organization into a scalable enterprise.
Alex also co founded NDT, further demonstrating his entrepreneurial experience and ability to build businesses with strategic value. NDT ultimately achieved a successful exit through its sale to Sunbelt Rentals, providing Alex with firsthand experience in entrepreneurship, business development, transaction preparation, and value realization.
His broader career includes significant organic growth initiatives and mergers and acquisitions contributing to approximately $320 million in enterprise value. As CFO of RMC Group, Alex served as a trusted advisor to the founder and CEO, helping establish the infrastructure and processes required for profitable expansion. He developed investment business cases, strengthened financial planning, and secured lending relationships capable of supporting continued growth. These experiences reinforced his belief that sustainable growth depends on financial discipline, sound strategy, and operational execution working together.
Alex brings substantial transaction and investment experience to his advisory and board work. During his tenure with Lakeside Capital Group, he led the divestiture of a major portfolio company in a transaction valued at approximately $220 million. He worked closely with investment bankers and outside counsel, managed due diligence and transaction processes, and helped complete the transaction in less than 23 days. He also evaluated acquisition opportunities across multiple sectors and negotiated debt and operating facilities with commercial banking partners, strengthening his expertise in enterprise valuation, deal structuring, capital strategy, negotiation, and risk assessment.
Earlier leadership roles further broadened Alex’s financial and operational perspective. At Power Group Companies, he helped strengthen planning, performance measurement, financial management, and acquisition integration. At Cerner Corporation, he served as Regional Controller for the North Atlantic region with responsibility for profit and loss, cash flow, and backlog management for a business representing approximately $180 million. He also led financial integration activities following an acquisition and encouraged finance professionals to operate as strategic partners to the business. His career began at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he developed a rigorous foundation in audit, acquisition due diligence, controls, and business performance improvement.
Alex has also worked at the intersection of finance, technology, entrepreneurship, and education. His experience includes serving as CFO and General Manager of CD2 LLC and as Principal and CFO of Lone Peak Capital, where he gained additional exposure to technology enabled businesses, venture capital, and emerging growth opportunities. These roles broadened his ability to assess businesses through both financial and commercial lenses while reinforcing his interest in organizations where innovation must be supported by strong economics.
Board and advisory service are a natural extension of Alex’s executive career. In addition to his 15 years of board experience with Commercial Restoration Company, he participated on portfolio company boards and management committees during his time with Lakeside Capital Group. He has also contributed as a volunteer advisor on an educational advisory board and served the University of Missouri Kansas City Bloch School of Business through the Dean’s advisory board. His boardroom value comes from his ability to move comfortably between financial detail and enterprise strategy while helping leadership teams evaluate assumptions, understand risk, allocate resources thoughtfully, and remain focused on sustainable value creation.
Alex earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Missouri Kansas City and later completed executive education at Harvard Business School. His foundation as a CPA, currently inactive, complements decades of practical experience spanning accounting, controllership, CFO leadership, entrepreneurship, investing, advisory work, and board service.
At this stage of his career, Alex is focused on applying approximately 27 years of accumulated experience to help organizations make better informed decisions, navigate transformation, and pursue sustainable growth. Whether evaluating an acquisition, reviewing a strategic plan, assessing liquidity, examining a pricing model, strengthening financial infrastructure, or preparing a business for its next stage, Alex brings financial rigor, entrepreneurial perspective, transaction experience, and practical operating judgment to the table.
