Walker brings extensive governance expertise, having served on national and regional boards, including the YMCA National Board of Directors and the YMCA National Retirement Fund. Her strategic leadership is evidenced by her delivery of five comprehensive strategic plans, developed through collaborative stakeholder engagement and designed to achieve measurable, impactful results.
Over her illustrious CEO career, Walker has raised over $52 million in philanthropic support. She spearheaded the redevelopment of Cincinnati’s downtown YMCA, securing $17 million in tax credits including new market, historic and affordable housing credits in collaboration with US Bank and other key partners. In Silicon Valley, she charted an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise delete:$25 million by 2020 and over $100 million by 2025. Her visionary leadership expanded facilities, childcare, and wellness programs through innovative partnerships with leading organizations such as Fifth Third Bank and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.
Committed to fostering inclusive environments, Walker established systems to strengthen leadership diversity and promote community engagement. She founded association-wide initiatives like the Diversity, Inclusion, and Global Awareness Committee to implement actionable plans advancing equity within the Y. Her efforts have made her a national voice on diversity, serving as Chair of the Y-USA Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee. Walker has been actively engaged in international initiatives throughout her career.
Walker has consistently delivered innovative, evidence-based programs addressing critical community needs. She led the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati’s involvement in the nationally recognized STRIVE initiative and played a pivotal role in launching the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program. Under her leadership, YMCA Global Centers of Excellence have become high-performing models for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
As President and CEO of the YMCA of Silicon Valley (2016–2022), Walker oversaw a $80 million operation, leading a network of 300 sites and 3,400 staff. Prior to this, she served as CEO of the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati (2005–2016), managing 16 branches, 80+ program sites, and a $39 million budget. Her career began as Chief Operating Officer for the YMCA of Greater Boston, where she directed a $52 million operation with 90 locations. Her global influence extends to the YMCA World Council, YMCA Europe Youth Expo, and several international leadership delegations. She served as a delegate to World Council of YMCAs and board member for the World Urban Network of YMCAs and led an international partnership with the YMCA in Mexico City.
Walker’s commitment to community service is reflected in her leadership roles with the Massachusetts, Ohio and California State Alliances of YMCAs, Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in New England, Cincinnati Human Services Chamber, Leadership Cincinnati, and the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. A Gettysburg College graduate with a BA in Psychology, she has been honored as a Distinguished Alumni (2015) and continues to serve on her alma mater’s Reunion Committee.
