“Striving to Be the Best Version of Myself While Uplifting Those Around Me.”
Mark O’Donnell’s journey as a leader, strategist, and operational architect spans nearly four decades of dynamic professional experience. With a career built on integrity, resilience, and relentless pursuit of excellence, Mark stands today as a trusted executive consultant and founder of Operations Excellence, LLC, a firm dedicated to transforming business operations into engines of sustainable growth. From his earliest days as an industrial engineer to his current role shaping executive strategies, Mark’s career is a testament to his capacity to evolve, mentor, and lead with intention.
Graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, Mark entered the workforce equipped with a strong foundation in systems thinking and process efficiency. He began his professional path with Pass & Seymour/LeGrand, where he applied classical industrial engineering methodologies to improve product development and manufacturing flow. These formative years established a rigorous attention to detail and a data-driven approach that would underpin his leadership style throughout his career.
In the years that followed, Mark climbed the ranks within Syroco, Inc., a leading North American manufacturer. Here, he transitioned from hands-on engineering roles into executive leadership. As Vice President of Operations and Director of Engineering, he oversaw expansive capital projects, championed cost-reduction efforts, and played a pivotal role in launching new products. Mark led the company through several complex transitions, including the integration of acquisitions and modernization of manufacturing lines. His ability to lead teams through change with clarity and consistency became one of his hallmarks.
His reputation as a transformative leader continued to grow as he assumed leadership roles at Associated Industrial Riggers Corporation. As Vice President of Operations, he guided strategic planning, led structural reorganization, and was instrumental in negotiating with labor unions—always maintaining a collaborative and respectful stance. Mark’s calm demeanor and analytical mind made him a unifying force within executive teams, capable of bridging operational goals with human-centered leadership.
The next chapter in Mark’s career unfolded at JR Clancy, Inc., a division of Wenger Corporation. Over more than a decade, he served as General Manager and Director of Operations, overseeing everything from manufacturing to procurement and quality assurance. He worked side by side with sales, marketing, and engineering to align customer expectations with execution capabilities. Under his guidance, the company underwent a cultural and strategic transformation—streamlining processes, empowering cross-functional teams, and embedding ISO 9001 standards across the organization. Mark led with humility, always listening first, and inspiring those around him to take ownership of their roles.
In 2021, Mark launched Operations Excellence, LLC, a boutique consultancy designed to help businesses unlock their full potential. As the principal consultant, he works with clients to design tailored strategic plans and cultivate high-performing teams. Whether mentoring a new executive or realigning an operational roadmap, Mark brings a steady hand, thoughtful insights, and deep operational expertise. His client engagements often result in measurable improvements in efficiency, culture, and profitability—a reflection of his results-driven yet people-centered approach.
Beyond his corporate accomplishments, Mark has always been deeply committed to community and service. He currently serves on the membership committee with the Chamber of Commerce, the Foundation Rotary Board, and is an active member of the Rotary Club. These roles reflect his belief that strong communities and strong businesses go hand in hand. His involvement isn’t just symbolic—he actively contributes his skills to help these organizations thrive, proving that leadership transcends the walls of a boardroom.
Mark’s public voice is equally impactful. He has appeared on leadership-focused podcasts and written for local business journals, sharing insights on culture, organizational development, and strategic execution. He’s not only a doer but a teacher—a mentor who believes in lifting others as he climbs. His words resonate with emerging and seasoned leaders alike, as he speaks with both authority and authenticity.
His international exposure, including professional engagements in Vietnam and a study-abroad program in Poland during his MBA at Le Moyne College, gives him a broad global perspective. Mark understands the complexities of global supply chains, cross-cultural team dynamics, and the importance of agile thinking in today’s fast-moving markets. These experiences have only deepened his ability to navigate ambiguity and guide organizations through global challenges.
