As the President of Communication Services, a boutique political communications firm, and Managing Partner of Progressive Elections, LLC, Libby has dedicated her career to ensuring that underserved communities and critical causes receive the support and representation they need. With a deep-rooted commitment to animal welfare, public libraries, healthcare, and social justice, she has built a reputation as a tireless advocate for those who need it most.

    A lifelong advocate for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community, Libby is also the founder of the Empire State Pride Agenda, which played a pivotal role in advocating for LGBT rights in New York State. Through her work in these areas, Libby has become one of the leading voices in the public affairs sector, known for her ability to foster collaborative partnerships, develop effective advocacy strategies, and communicate complex policy issues in clear, compelling ways.

    In her role as the Executive Director of the New York State Animal Protection Federation, Libby has worked tirelessly to protect and promote animal welfare across the state. She has played a key role in passing critical animal protection legislation, including the Puppy Mill Pipeline Bill, the Companion Animal Care Standards Act for Shelters and Rescues, and the establishment of the Companion Animal Capital Fund, which has raised millions of dollars to help animal shelters across New York. Through her leadership, the Federation has become the foremost voice for animal welfare in the state, advocating for stronger policies, better shelter conditions, and improved services for homeless animals.

    In addition to her work with the Animal Protection Federation, Libby has also made a significant impact on public libraries and healthcare organizations. Her strategic communications expertise has helped more than 60 public libraries across New York State secure stable funding and pass critical budget initiatives, often achieving an impressive 81% success rate. Libby is particularly proud of her work with libraries, believing that strong libraries are the cornerstone of thriving communities. She has worked with libraries to rebrand, develop winning strategies, and guide them through complex campaigns to secure the resources they need.

    Libby’s work in political consulting through Progressive Elections, LLC has helped elect pro-choice, pro-LGBTQ candidates in local elections across the state. Her firm has built a reputation for providing campaign management, message development, direct mail, social media, and video production services that drive results. Since its founding in 2018, Progressive Elections has worked on campaigns for numerous local candidates, including several successful re-election bids and primary victories. Libby’s strategic insight into political campaigning has made her a trusted consultant for progressive causes and candidates.

    Libby’s career has also included numerous leadership roles within nonprofit organizations. She served as a board member for United for Libraries, an organization dedicated to supporting library trustees, friends, and foundations, from 2017 to 2021. She also served as co-chair of the Mohawk & Hudson Humane Society Capital Campaign, which raised $3 million for the organization’s work to support and protect animals. She was the president of Congregation Ohav Shalom in Albany from 2012 to 2016, where she led initiatives to strengthen the community and promote inclusive leadership.

    A skilled communicator, Libby has been a regular panelist and commentator on The Roundtable, a public affairs program on WAMC/Northeast Public Radio, since 2013. She has also contributed to numerous publications, including The GayWired.com, where she wrote a nationally syndicated column on LGBT issues for several years.     Libby holds a Master’s degree in Political Communications from the University at Albany, where she also earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Journalism. Her academic background and professional experience have equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in her many roles.
