Stan Klakulak is a distinguished executive leader, growth strategist, and mergers and acquisitions expert whose career spans more than three decades of transformative leadership across the fire protection, life safety, security, and field service industries. Throughout his professional journey, he has earned a reputation as a results-driven executive who combines financial discipline, operational excellence, strategic vision, and people-centered leadership to create lasting value for organizations and stakeholders alike. His ability to lead through change, scale complex operations, and execute growth initiatives has positioned him as one of the industry’s most respected business leaders.

From the beginning of his career, Stan demonstrated a strong aptitude for business, finance, and operational management. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The University of Akron, he launched his professional career with Ernst & Young, where he developed a rigorous foundation in auditing, financial analysis, and corporate governance. His early experience exposed him to a broad range of business environments and provided valuable insight into the financial structures and operational dynamics that drive organizational performance.

Stan’s leadership capabilities expanded significantly during his tenure with Philip Morris International, where he held positions in both operations supervision and operations finance management. These assignments allowed him to gain firsthand experience leading manufacturing operations while strengthening his understanding of financial management, workforce leadership, and process improvement. The combination of operational and financial responsibilities would later become a hallmark of his executive leadership style.

His entrepreneurial and executive capabilities became increasingly evident when he joined Carolina Safety Associates as Chief Financial Officer and Principal. During this period, Stan played a pivotal role in helping guide the company through a period of growth and value creation that ultimately resulted in its acquisition by Tyco International. This experience provided him with an invaluable perspective on business ownership, strategic growth planning, acquisition readiness, and the complexities associated with integrating organizations following major transactions.

Stan’s most significant professional chapter unfolded during his twenty-four-year tenure with SimplexGrinnell and its successor organizations, ultimately becoming part of Johnson Controls. Over the course of his career with the organization, he assumed progressively larger leadership responsibilities spanning mergers and acquisitions, financial planning and analysis, operational excellence, regional management, and executive business leadership. His breadth of experience across multiple disciplines enabled him to develop a unique enterprise-wide perspective that few executives achieve.

As Director of Mergers and Acquisitions, Stan led strategic planning and integration efforts associated with more than fifty acquisitions. He served as a key member of the executive team responsible for the landmark merger between Simplex and Grinnell, creating a combined enterprise valued at approximately $1.8 billion. His expertise in acquisition strategy, due diligence, organizational integration, and post-merger execution helped establish scalable frameworks that supported long-term growth and operational alignment.

Following his success in M&A leadership, Stan advanced into executive positions overseeing financial planning and operational excellence initiatives. As Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and later Director of Operational Excellence, he championed Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve productivity, increase efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen organizational performance across North America. His leadership during this period helped create cultures of accountability and continuous improvement while positioning teams to achieve sustainable operational success.

Stan’s career continued to accelerate as he assumed responsibility for increasingly larger regional P&L operations. Over four separate regional leadership assignments, he managed organizations responsible for more than $320 million in annual revenue and over 1,000 employees. Under his leadership, these regions consistently exceeded performance objectives, delivered exceptional profitability, and achieved some of the strongest operating results within the company. His success earned multiple Pinnacle Awards and recognition as one of the organization’s premier commercial and operational leaders.

As Director and General Manager of Johnson Controls’ Special Hazard and Suppression Product Line, Stan was entrusted with leading a business generating approximately $195 million in annual revenue while overseeing a workforce of more than 685 employees. Through strategic restructuring, improved execution models, and disciplined growth initiatives, he successfully delivered a 14 percent compound annual growth rate while significantly improving gross margins. His ability to align strategy, execution, and culture enabled the organization to achieve breakthrough performance in a highly competitive market.

Most recently, Stan served as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Fortis Fire & Safety, where he spearheaded enterprise growth initiatives while serving as a board member. In this role, he led mergers and acquisitions strategy, cultivated relationships with business owners throughout the fire and life safety industry, and helped drive the organization’s expansion across North America. His experience operating within both public company and private equity-backed environments has further strengthened his understanding of governance, value creation, and long-term strategic planning.

Throughout his career, Stan has become recognized as a highly effective change agent capable of transforming underperforming organizations into market leaders. He has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to navigate complex business challenges, build high-performing teams, and create cultures centered on accountability, collaboration, and customer excellence. His leadership philosophy emphasizes empowering people, developing future leaders, and aligning organizational objectives with measurable business outcomes.

Stan’s expertise extends across strategic planning, business development, mergers and acquisitions, operational integration, P&L management, organizational transformation, financial leadership, and commercial operations. His deep understanding of field service organizations makes him particularly valuable to businesses operating within HVAC, fire protection, security systems, building technologies, industrial services, and related sectors where service delivery, technician performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency are critical success factors.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Stan remains passionate about personal growth, mentorship, and lifelong learning. He believes that some of the greatest opportunities for success emerge when experienced leaders collaborate to solve complex challenges and create value for future generations. His interest in board service stems from a genuine desire to contribute his extensive experience while continuing to learn from fellow executives and entrepreneurs. Having worked within startup environments, middle-market organizations, public companies, and private equity-backed enterprises, he offers a uniquely balanced perspective capable of supporting organizations at virtually every stage of growth.

Outside of work, Stan enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, fishing, and participating in sports. These activities reflect the same qualities that have defined his professional career—discipline, perseverance, adaptability, and a deep appreciation for teamwork.
