    Skye Root, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) based in Boise, Idaho, is a multifaceted professional with a diverse portfolio spanning farming, real estate, and agribusiness investment banking. As the Founder and Owner of Root Agricultural Advisory Western USA since 2018, Skye oversees the management of agricultural properties totaling $750 million across the Western United States. His firm brings expertise advising Western U.S. farms, investors, and agribusinesses, both private and institutional, in real estate advisory, farm management and agricultural consulting.

    In addition to his role at Root Agricultural Advisory, Skye serves as a Managing Director of the Agricultural Group at Capstone Partners and was formerly the Head of Ag/Food Practice at Galena Capital Partners. He has been instrumental in sourcing middle-market debt and equity investment banking opportunities in agribusiness, ag tech, and food sectors. Skye offers strategic advice, oversees mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and facilitates growth capital raises.

    Skye’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Root Realty Western USA in 2013, where he serves as the Founder and Designated Broker. Over the years, he has closed over $2.1 billion in farmland and agribusiness real estate transactions throughout the western USA. Additionally, Skye manages a portfolio of $75 million in commercial properties for friends and family.

    Skye’s academic background includes a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Entrepreneurship and a Master of Public Policy with an emphasis on Water and Agriculture from Oregon State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a Management Minor from Brigham Young University.

    In recognition of his expertise and contributions, Skye has received numerous accolades, including being named the National Farm Manager of the Year by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) in 2022 and earning the title of National Top Producer from the Realtors Land Institute in 2023 and National Farmland Broker of the Year in both 2020, 2021, and 2023.

    Beyond his professional pursuits, Skye is deeply committed to giving back to his community through volunteer work. He actively participates in various not-for -profit organizations, including the CFA Society of Idaho, where he just concluded his service as President, and the Boy Scouts of America, where he has held leadership positions for over a decade. Skye currently serves on a large agribusiness corporate board and has been on multiple corporate advisory boards.
