Nancy Tetreaux is a distinguished executive coach, human resources leader, and communications expert whose career spans more than thirty years across major law firms, global professional services organizations, manufacturing, fashion, media, Start-ups, and non-profits. Her professional journey reflects a consistent commitment to elevating individuals and strengthening organizations through clarity, connection, and purposeful leadership. With a background that blends academic rigor, corporate experience, and a deep passion for human development, she has become a trusted advisor to leaders navigating the complexities of modern organizational life.

Nancy began her career in human resources with a natural ability to understand people, decode interpersonal dynamics, and translate organizational needs into practical action. Her early roles laid the foundation for what would become a signature strength: her capacity to quickly assess environments, build rapport across diverse teams, and help professionals succeed through confident, clear, and respectful communication. Over the years, she emerged as a leader who not only excelled in functional HR but also recognized how culture, behavior, and communication shape the performance and morale of entire organizations.

Her work at major international law firms showcased her ability to thrive in environments characterized by high expectations, fast-changing priorities, and complex stakeholder structures. As an HR Manager and later as a Senior HR Business Partner, Nancy guided partners, senior executives, and department leaders through the full spectrum of people challenges from performance management and employee relations to compensation, organizational redesign, and leadership development. Her counsel was sought after not only for her expertise in employment practices but for her ability to deliver insights grounded in fairness, practicality, and a genuine commitment to excellence and personal and professional development.

Nancy’s corporate leadership expanded into academia, where she served as a professor of Business Communication, Leadership, Ethics, and Human Resources Management at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In the classroom, she honed her skill for transforming theory into actionable insight, empowering emerging professionals with the communication and leadership tools needed for success. Her dual perspectives from corporate life and higher education strengthened her belief that great leadership is cultivated through self-awareness, clarity of purpose, and focus on the development of others.

Her expertise in communication eventually led her to the American Management Association, where she became a top-rated Course Leader delivering programs such as Effective Executive Speaking, The Voice of Leadership, and Fundamentals of Human Resources Management. Leaders from a wide range of industries rely on Nancy to prepare them for high stakes communication, strategic influence, and executive presence. Her training approach, which is  warm, direct, grounded, and deeply practical has earned her the respect of executives, managers, and entrepreneurs seeking to elevate their impact.

As her career evolved, Nancy expanded her work into coaching and consulting, first launching SpeakSpin more than a decade ago, which was a communication skills and career coaching practice. When she joined Shearman & Sterling in 2015, she stepped away from SpeakSpin, and then in the spring 2025, after leaving Shearman, she launched her current venture, Tetreaux Professional Coaching. Her coaching philosophy centers on the belief that every individual holds the capacity for greater success than they have achieved so far. Through reflective inquiry, thoughtful guidance, and accountability rooted in compassion, she enables clients to recognize their strengths, navigate challenges, and take meaningful action toward their goals.

Her coaching engagements span executives taking on larger leadership roles, new managers striving to build confidence, and experienced leaders facing complex interpersonal and organizational challenges. She also provides customized management communication skills training to employees and leaders at all levels. Clients value her ability to hold supportive yet honest conversations, helping them develop the mindset, communication habits, and managerial behaviors necessary for sustained performance. Her approach is both strategic and human-centered, grounded in the practical realities of leadership while honoring the personal complexities that accompany growth.

Nancy’s academic accomplishments enrich her work at every level. She completed all doctoral coursework in Communication and Media at Rutgers University and holds a Master’s degree in Speech and Interpersonal Communication from New York University. This academic foundation in organizational and interpersonal communication behavior  informs her ability  to guide her clients into accessible, actionable strategies that empower individuals and strengthen teams. Her certifications in Executive Coaching from Baruch College, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and Mental Health First Aid further enhance her holistic approach to leadership development.

Across her career, Nancy has worked with organizations in the United States, with ties to the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and beyond, shaping leaders in international contexts and helping global teams strengthen alignment and collaboration. Her passion for communication, her commitment to developing others, and her belief in the transformative power of intentional leadership continue to drive her work. Whether guiding executives through organizational change, teaching rising leaders how to find their voice, or helping individuals navigate career transitions, she remains a steady and trusted partner on the journey to professional and personal growth.
