Mark Thompson is a strategic chief financial officer, accomplished business partner, and experienced board member whose career spans more than four decades of helping organizations achieve sustainable growth, operational excellence, and long-term enterprise value. Throughout more than 44 years of professional experience, he has earned a reputation for transforming complex financial and operational challenges into strategic opportunities that strengthen organizations from the inside out. His leadership philosophy is grounded in integrity, collaboration, and value creation, principles that have consistently guided executive teams, boards of directors, investors, and stakeholders through periods of expansion, transformation, and market change. Whether advising privately held companies or publicly traded enterprises, Mark is recognized for combining analytical rigor with practical business judgment to deliver measurable and lasting results.

Currently serving as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Marsden Holding, LLC, Mark oversees all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, payroll, employee benefits, treasury, banking relationships, insurance, and external audits. Marsden is a nationally recognized provider of integrated commercial facility services with more than $600 million in annual revenue and over 10,000 employees. Since joining the organization, Mark has played an instrumental role in strengthening the company’s financial infrastructure while positioning it for accelerated growth. His leadership helped expand the company’s credit facility during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing the financial flexibility necessary to continue investing in strategic initiatives while maintaining operational stability. At the same time, he successfully led the acquisition and integration of numerous businesses, significantly expanding the company’s market presence and long-term value.

Beyond financial stewardship, Mark has become one of the principal architects of Marsden’s strategic growth initiatives. He developed the company’s five-year strategic plan designed to double net income, a roadmap that continues to guide executive decision-making and organizational priorities. By enhancing financial planning and analysis processes, implementing advanced business intelligence models, and introducing deeper operational metrics related to customer retention, employee engagement, profitability, and operational efficiency, Mark has equipped leadership with the insights necessary to make faster, more informed strategic decisions. His ability to bridge finance, operations, and corporate strategy has established him as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team and the company’s board of directors.

Prior to joining Marsden Holding, Mark served as Head of Finance for Solera North America while simultaneously serving as Chief Financial Officer for Explore Information Services, a subsidiary of Solera, one of the world’s leading providers of technology solutions for the automotive and insurance industries. During his tenure, he led finance organizations supporting multiple business platforms while improving financial forecasting accuracy to within approximately two percent of actual results. He developed sophisticated revenue forecasting models, strengthened sales pipeline management processes, and helped drive significant EBITDA margin expansion through disciplined operational improvements. His work demonstrated that finance could serve not only as a reporting function but as a catalyst for business performance and strategic execution.

Mark’s expertise in mergers and acquisitions has become one of the defining characteristics of his executive career. Throughout multiple leadership positions, he has successfully led financial due diligence, acquisition modeling, integration planning, governance implementation, and post-acquisition operational alignment for organizations pursuing aggressive growth strategies. He played a critical role in developing the financial analyses and presentations that supported the successful sale of Explore Information Services to Solera at an impressive valuation multiple while also leading multiple acquisitions that collectively added hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. His experience enables him to evaluate opportunities through both financial and operational lenses, ensuring acquisitions create sustainable enterprise value rather than simply increasing organizational scale.

Earlier in his career, Mark built an exceptionally broad business foundation through executive finance and strategic planning roles at Skybridge Marketing Group, Thomson Reuters, Pentair’s Hoffman Enclosures, RBC Dain Rauscher, Northwest Airlines, McGladrey & Pullen, and Price Waterhouse. These experiences exposed him to a diverse collection of industries, including software, data analytics, financial services, aviation, manufacturing, marketing services, and professional accounting. Working within organizations ranging from emerging businesses to Fortune 500 enterprises provided him with a comprehensive understanding of corporate governance, financial controls, strategic planning, operational management, and organizational transformation. This broad perspective allows him to quickly understand business challenges across industries while identifying practical strategies that improve profitability, operational performance, and shareholder value.

Mark’s global business perspective further strengthens his executive leadership. His work has included professional exposure throughout England, Germany, France, and Spain, allowing him to appreciate the cultural, operational, and strategic considerations involved in international business environments. While his expertise is firmly rooted in finance, his leadership consistently extends beyond the numbers. He understands that successful organizations require alignment among people, processes, technology, and strategy, and he has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to bring those elements together in support of long-term organizational success. His deep knowledge of analytics, financial risk management, technology integration, and corporate strategy enables him to help organizations navigate both opportunities and uncertainty with confidence.

Equally important to his professional accomplishments is Mark’s longstanding commitment to community leadership and board service. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish Minnesota and the American Heart Association Minnesota, contributing his financial expertise and governance experience to organizations dedicated to improving lives and strengthening communities. Earlier in his career, he also served on the Concordia College Offutt School of Business Twin Cities Board, supporting future business leaders through higher education. These governance roles reflect his belief that effective leadership extends beyond corporate success and includes helping mission-driven organizations fulfill their purpose through sound oversight, thoughtful strategy, and responsible stewardship.

Mark’s educational background reflects the same commitment to excellence that has defined his career. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities, specializing in Finance and Marketing, following completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Organizational Communications from Concordia College, where he graduated cum laude. He also earned designation as a Certified Public Accountant, providing a strong technical foundation that has supported decades of executive leadership. By combining advanced financial expertise with exceptional communication skills and strategic thinking, Mark has developed into a highly effective executive capable of connecting financial performance with broader business objectives.

Today, Mark continues to seek opportunities to serve on corporate boards where his extensive executive experience, financial expertise, governance perspective, and collaborative leadership style can help organizations accelerate growth and navigate increasingly complex business environments. He believes that effective governance requires more than financial oversight—it requires strategic insight, disciplined decision-making, thoughtful risk management, and the ability to ask the right questions while supporting executive leadership. With more than four decades of experience spanning finance, corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, analytics, operational transformation, and board governance, Mark brings a balanced perspective that enables organizations to create sustainable value for shareholders, employees, customers, and communities alike.
