Joyce Boss is an accomplished strategic CFO, board member, and financial executive whose career has been defined by helping high-growth technology companies translate ambitious visions into disciplined, sustainable enterprise value. With more than 25 years of professional experience spanning finance, accounting, operations, legal matters, human resources, capital strategy, and corporate governance, Joyce brings an unusually broad perspective to the boardroom. Her leadership philosophy centers on combining financial rigor with operational insight, enabling her to help founders, management teams, directors, and investors navigate complex decisions while keeping long-term growth, stakeholder interests, and organizational health aligned.
Joyce has developed particularly deep expertise in software, high technology, and SaaS businesses, where rapid growth creates both extraordinary opportunity and significant operational complexity. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with founders and founding teams as their companies progressed through fundraising, scaling, M&A, private equity ownership, and IPO preparation. Her experience encompasses financial strategy and planning, capital structure, equity and sales compensation, audit and compliance, investor relations, payment processing and revenue-share arrangements, large multiyear contracts, and sophisticated negotiations. Her professional skills are reinforced by extensive experience in accounting, auditing, internal controls, financial reporting, strategic financial planning, SEC filings, due diligence, and mergers and acquisitions.
Most recently, Joyce served as Chief Financial Officer of HighLevel, where she led finance, accounting, investor relations, and cross-functional strategy during a period of exceptional expansion. During her tenure, the company grew annual recurring revenue from approximately $32 million to more than $500 million while remaining profitable and without relying on primary capital. Joyce built the finance organization from four employees to 55 and recruited senior leaders with IPO and public-company experience. She also led a Series B financing with General Atlantic, orchestrated a tender offer that enabled more than 500 employees to participate, raised a large senior debt facility, administered a shareholder dividend, and helped prepare the organization for the public markets through S-1 work, investment-banker engagement, a non-deal roadshow, compliance development, and investor-relations infrastructure.
Before HighLevel, Joyce served as CFO of Lytics, where she was responsible for finance, accounting, sales operations, and legal functions for the global SaaS business. Her work helped improve gross margins from approximately 65% to more than 76% while strengthening planning processes, financial reporting, pipeline visibility, and net margins. She also led a $35 million Series C financing led by JMI Equity and secured a $10 million debt facility. This combination of operational improvement and capital strategy reflects a recurring theme throughout Joyce’s career: she does not view finance as a reporting function alone, but as an operating discipline capable of shaping better business decisions.
That philosophy was also central to her tenure as CFO of Cedexis, a technology company operating across the United States and France. Joyce oversaw finance, accounting, sales operations, legal, and human resources while the organization tripled revenue. She helped institute disciplined planning and customer-acquisition-cost management, strengthened reporting and pipeline visibility, and led a $22 million Series B financing. When Citrix acquired Cedexis in 2018, Joyce led the transaction process through diligence and integration, adding another dimension to her experience guiding organizations through consequential moments of strategic change.
Earlier in her career, Joyce served as Vice President of Finance at Janrain and spent nearly eight years advancing through increasingly senior finance positions at Tripwire. At Tripwire, she progressed from Assistant Controller and Corporate Controller to Senior Director of Finance and Sales Operations as the company grew revenue from approximately $30 million to $150 million. She built the FP&A capability from the ground up, managed SEC compliance and IPO preparation, helped lead the Form S-1 filing process, strengthened internal controls, and reduced the financial close cycle by 60%. Following the company’s acquisition by Thoma Bravo, she partnered with its private equity team on operational and EBITDA improvements and also helped execute a $108.5 million senior secured credit facility. Her professional profile further reflects substantial expertise in areas including Sarbanes-Oxley, SOX 404, SEC filings, financial statements, financial modeling, due diligence, and controllership.
Joyce’s financial foundation was established through public accounting and audit, including service as an Audit Manager with KPMG and earlier accounting and audit roles. A Certified Public Accountant in Oregon, currently inactive, she combines that technical foundation with decades of experience applying financial principles in operating environments where decisions must be made quickly and with incomplete information. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oregon State University, concentrating in accounting with a minor in pre-law, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. This intersection of accounting, finance, legal understanding, and operational leadership has become one of the defining strengths of her executive career.
Her impact extends beyond executive management into corporate governance. Joyce has served on the Board of Directors of Hydrolix since 2019, joining the real-time data platform company at its pre-seed stage and continuing as it scaled to more than $60 million in ARR and completed multiple rounds of financing. She serves on both the Compensation and Audit Committees, applying her CFO, audit, compensation, and governance experience to issues ranging from financial oversight to executive and equity compensation. Her board perspective is informed by more than two decades of working closely with boards, audit committees, compensation committees, founders, private equity investors, and executive leadership teams. She has also served on the board of the Oregon Society of CPAs and has maintained professional affiliations with the OSCPA and AICPA.
Joyce’s accomplishments have earned recognition within the Oregon business community. She was named CFO of the Year in Oregon by the Portland Business Journal in 2016 and was recognized as a Woman of Influence in 2017. She has also participated in professional panels and speaking engagements, including engagements involving Perkins Coie and KPMG. Her career has given her international exposure across the United Kingdom, France, India, and Japan, strengthening her appreciation for the challenges of managing organizations, teams, and business relationships across geographic and cultural boundaries.
Now retired from full-time CFO leadership, Joyce is intentionally focusing the next phase of her career on board service. After decades of partnering with boards, committees, investors, founders, and executive teams, she sees board leadership as an opportunity to apply the lessons accumulated across hypergrowth, capital raising, private equity, acquisitions, IPO preparation, operational transformation, and company sales. She is particularly interested in software, high-tech, and SaaS organizations, with a preference for businesses that have reached at least approximately $10 million in annual recurring revenue and are confronting the challenges that accompany meaningful scale.
At the heart of Joyce’s approach is a commitment to balancing financial discipline with an understanding of how companies actually operate. She brings the perspective of an auditor who understands controls, a CFO who understands capital and performance, an operator who understands execution, and a director who understands fiduciary responsibility and governance. Her goal is not simply to identify financial risks, but to help leadership teams make better decisions—preserving founder vision where appropriate, supporting accountable governance, and keeping investor returns and sustainable enterprise value firmly in view. For Joyce, board service represents both a continuation of her professional journey and an opportunity to give back by helping the next generation of founders and leadership teams successfully navigate the complexities of growth.
