Brendan Kane: Entrepreneur, Investor, Bestselling Author & Strategic Advisor

Published on:

The most consequential business decisions often begin with a question nobody thought to ask. Brendan Kane has built a career identifying overlooked opportunities, challenging assumptions, and helping leaders focus on the decisions that can change the trajectory of a business.

An entrepreneur, former CEO, three-time bestselling author, and strategic advisor, Brendan brings more than two decades of experience spanning technology, entertainment, consumer behavior, and business growth. He has founded and scaled companies, led teams inside major enterprises, developed proprietary technologies, and advised organizations navigating periods of disruption. His work has contributed to strategies generating more than 60 billion views and over $1 billion in client revenue.

Brendan began his career in entertainment, serving as Director of Digital Media at Lakeshore Entertainment from 2005 to 2009. He led digital initiatives across 16 theatrical releases that collectively generated more than $685 million in worldwide box office revenue. At a time when social platforms and online creators were still emerging, he recognized how new distribution channels could reshape the relationship between brands and audiences.

In 2009, he founded Site Canvas, a technology business developing digital experiences for entertainment companies, athletes, and public figures. Its applications reached more than 50 million people worldwide. His work included projects involving Taylor Swift, Rihanna, major sports figures, and organizations such as the NHL and NFL Players Association, as well as licensing relationships with media companies including Viacom and VICE Media.

Brendan later served as Vice President of Interactive Marketing at Paramount Pictures, overseeing digital strategy for domestic theatrical releases. Working inside a global studio gave him a firsthand view of how established organizations evaluate risk, allocate resources, and adapt to changing technology and consumer expectations. He subsequently founded Social Ink, expanding his experience in technology commercialization, strategic partnerships, and direct audience engagement.

As a strategic advisor, Brendan has worked with organizations including Yahoo!, Katie Couric Media, and Strike Social. During his engagement with Strike Social, the business grew from approximately $300,000 to more than $100 million in managed client media spend and secured major customers including Disney, Xbox, and Fox. His contribution extended beyond marketing to questions of positioning, customer acquisition, talent, operations, and the constraints that can limit growth.

In 2018, Brendan founded Hook Point, a research-driven strategy and technology company focused on the principles behind attention, communication, and business growth. As founder and former CEO, he built multidisciplinary teams and developed proprietary methodologies informed by more than 15,000 hours of research. Hook Point was acquired in 2024. The experience of building, scaling, and selling the company sharpened his perspective on both entrepreneurial opportunity and the practical demands of execution.

Brendan is the author of three bestselling books: One Million Followers, Hook Point, and The Guide to Going Viral. Together, they explore how ideas spread, why people pay attention, and how organizations can translate insights about human behavior into meaningful outcomes. He has also shared his work through speaking engagements and executive discussions, and served as a mentor with Techstars from 2017 to 2021, helping founders test assumptions and refine business models.

His perspective also draws on experience as a private investor across public and private markets, with particular interest in artificial intelligence, technology, infrastructure, and emerging industries. This investor lens complements his operating experience: compelling ideas must ultimately be assessed against economics, execution risk, competitive advantage, and the opportunity cost of capital.

Today, Brendan is focused on selective strategic advisory relationships and board opportunities with founders, CEOs, investors, and leadership teams facing consequential decisions. His interests span artificial intelligence, emerging technology, entertainment, healthcare, biotechnology, and other industries undergoing structural change. He is particularly drawn to situations where an independent perspective can help uncover a missed opportunity, question an accepted premise, or clarify where leadership should direct its attention.

One question increasingly shapes his thinking: in a world of infinite intelligence, what actually matters? As AI makes information and analytical capability more widely available, Brendan believes the ability to exercise sound judgment, recognize what is important, and build trusted relationships will become even more valuable. Technology can expand the set of possible answers; leaders still have to determine which questions deserve to be asked.

Brendan’s value to a leadership team is not simply expertise in growth or technology. It is the combination of experience as a founder, operator, advisor, author, and investor—and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking constructively. He aims to help leaders see what others miss, make better decisions, and pursue opportunities with the potential to create lasting value.
