Joe Del Regno: Mission-Driven Growth Architect and Builder

Published on:

“Seeing what something and someone can be, and taking that potential to the tipping point.”

Joe Del Regno is a mission-driven growth, marketing, and innovation executive whose career has been defined by a rare ability to see unrealized potential and transform it into measurable commercial and human impact. Across nearly four decades of leadership in consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, durable goods, retail, startups, and mission-driven organizations, Joe has helped companies rediscover their relevance, build movements around their brands, create breakthrough innovations, and turn challenged businesses into engines of sustainable growth. His teams have generated more than $1 billion in cumulative incremental revenue, but the thread connecting his career is broader than financial performance: Joe believes the most enduring growth occurs when an organization understands why it exists and gives customers, employees, and partners a reason to care.

Joe’s professional foundation was built through consumer marketing and sales leadership, beginning with General Mills and progressing through increasingly significant roles at ConAgra Foods. At ConAgra, he helped revitalize the iconic Orville Redenbacher’s brand after years of decline. Through disciplined strategic planning, innovation, targeted marketing, and partnerships with organizations including Coca-Cola, Disney, and Netflix, the business approximately doubled from $150 million to $300 million while regaining the number-one retail share position. The experience established a pattern that would repeat throughout Joe’s career: entering situations where growth had stalled, identifying the underlying consumer and commercial opportunity, and aligning an organization around a clear path forward.

That pattern continued at The Village Company and Samsonite, where Joe demonstrated that his growth methodology could translate across categories and business models. At The Village Company, he helped transform a small personal-care company competing against significantly larger CPG organizations, building sales and marketing capabilities, repositioning the portfolio, and developing strategic retailer relationships that contributed to growth from approximately $15 million to $100 million. At Samsonite, he helped reverse a multiyear decline across hundreds of company-owned stores by combining frontline collaboration, category management, analytics, creative merchandising, and predictive forecasting. These experiences strengthened his reputation as an executive equally comfortable with strategy, operational execution, customer relationships, data, and organizational transformation.

At Hasbro, Joe brought that combination of insight and creativity to some of the world’s most recognizable entertainment brands. After helping reinvigorate G.I. Joe, he was promoted to lead global brand marketing and innovation for Monopoly. Rather than treating Monopoly simply as a board game, Joe recognized the emotional attachment consumers had to its iconic tokens and turned that insight into the global Monopoly Token Vote. The campaign generated more than four billion global impressions, increased licensing revenue, and helped grow annual Monopoly sales from approximately $200 million to $400 million. Its recognition by major media underscored one of Joe’s central marketing convictions: powerful growth often begins by understanding what people genuinely care about and finding an authentic way to invite them into the story.

Joe’s tenure at Welch’s deepened his expertise in food and beverage while demonstrating the power of connecting commercial strategy with organizational purpose. As Vice President of Marketing and General Manager, he was charged with reversing the decline of the cooperative’s flagship grape juice business at a time when declining sales were threatening the livelihoods of family farmers. By grounding the turnaround in consumer research, repositioning, performance marketing, digital engagement, and a compelling brand story, Joe helped increase baseline sales by 30% and stabilize the business. He later built and led a healthy-snacking innovation effort, forged a strategic partnership with Starbucks, and helped double the fruit-food segment from approximately $100 million to $200 million in two years. The work reinforced his belief that brands are strongest when business growth and stakeholder purpose reinforce one another.

At Entrinsic Bioscience, that philosophy became intensely personal. Serving as Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager, Joe helped build the market for Enterade, an innovative product designed to reduce the side effects associated with cancer treatment. With limited initial resources, he built a marketing function, developed the emotionally resonant “Feel Better, Fight Harder” platform, and created a performance-driven direct-to-consumer ecommerce engine. The business reached a $24 million run rate, Enterade became used across hundreds of cancer centers, and the company ultimately achieved a successful private equity transaction. Joe also helped develop the investor story that supported substantial financing for clinical research. For him, however, Enterade was never simply another commercial success; family experiences with cancer made the mission deeply personal and strengthened his conviction that marketing can be a force for improving lives.

As Chief Growth Officer of Home Market Foods, Joe again demonstrated how purpose and performance can operate as one system. He helped create the Family Dinner Night movement around a simple but meaningful goal: helping families share one more meal together each week. Through digital, social, experiential, performance, and community-based marketing, the program attracted hundreds of thousands of participants and new brand users while contributing to a 40% sales increase and earning national marketing recognition. At the same time, Joe helped establish a new innovation culture and pipeline after years of limited product development, with multiple products exceeding test-market expectations and the company sweeping major convenience-store innovation awards.

Today, Joe serves as Chief Marketing Officer and Managing Director of Growth, Marketing, and Innovation at Stratosphere Management Executive Consultants, where he brings enterprise discipline and entrepreneurial speed to organizations seeking transformation. His work spans strategic growth planning, branding, go-to-market strategy, innovation, commercialization, performance marketing, ecommerce, partnerships, and customer engagement. His ability to move fluidly between boardroom strategy and market execution is supported by extensive experience presenting to and working alongside boards, CEOs, investors, cross-functional executive teams, and operating leaders. He understands not only how to identify growth opportunities, but also how to create organizational alignment around the investments, capabilities, people, and accountability required to capture them.

Joe’s leadership philosophy is inseparable from his belief in passion, purpose, and people development. He has built and led high-performing teams, taught leadership development, mentored talent, and cultivated cultures where people are encouraged to challenge assumptions and ask what would need to be true for ambitious ideas to succeed. He believes authentic passion—supported by rigorous analysis, disciplined execution, and collaboration—is an extraordinary competitive advantage. His own “passion meter” has guided him toward opportunities where teams genuinely care about the work and where success can mean something beyond a quarterly financial result.

Community service provides another important dimension to Joe’s leadership. As Executive Director of The Andrew Del Regno Foundation, he honors his brother’s memory by supporting addiction-recovery programs and families navigating grief. His volunteer history also includes fundraising work, youth mentoring, community-service leadership, and the creation of a foundation that helped make Enterade available to patients who could not afford it. These experiences have given Joe meaningful exposure to nonprofit leadership, fundraising, stakeholder engagement, community impact, and mission stewardship while reinforcing a lifelong belief that leadership carries an obligation to leave organizations and communities stronger than one found them.

As Joe pursues board and advisory opportunities, particularly within consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, consumer-oriented, and mission-driven organizations, he brings an unusually broad perspective. He has spent his executive career interacting extensively with boards, securing approval for strategic growth plans, managing businesses with revenue responsibility reaching $1 billion, building innovation pipelines, leading turnarounds, developing major partnerships, and translating consumer insight into enterprise value. Combined with his experience as an executive director in the nonprofit sector, that background positions him to contribute meaningfully to conversations involving growth strategy, brand relevance, innovation, stakeholder trust, culture, partnerships, marketing effectiveness, and long-term value creation.

Joe holds an MBA in Marketing from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Vermont, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was recognized for student leadership. Outside of his professional and volunteer commitments, he enjoys cooking, golf, diving, family, and an especially creative passion for Halloween decorating—an interest that reflects the same instinct found throughout his career: imagining what something could become, continually improving it, and pushing it toward the tipping point where an idea becomes something remarkable.
