Daniel Tippy is a seasoned executive with 40 years of leadership experience in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, specializing in strategic sales management, labor relations, warehouse operations, and organizational development. Recently retired in 2024 at the age of 60, Daniel is now focused on contributing his leadership and operational expertise in a board director capacity—particularly within industries that value people-centric cultures, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.
Throughout his 20-year tenure at Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest baking company, Daniel progressed through a series of senior leadership roles, culminating as senior director of sales. In this role, he held full P&L responsibility for a $550 million regional business unit spanning over four states, 74 distribution centers, and more than 600 direct associates and 300 independent operators. His leadership was instrumental in shaping sales strategies across powerhouse brands including Entenmann’s, Thomas’, Brownberry, Sara Lee, and Barcel’s fast-rising Takis.
Daniel brings deep experience in union negotiations and labor relations, having led and supported over 15 years of successful negotiations with the Teamsters and BCT unions. He has actively participated in grievance proceedings and arbitration hearings and facilitated complex independent operator contracts that upheld both legal standards and brand integrity. These efforts helped foster collaborative labor-management relationships and mitigate operational disruptions.
His background also includes in-depth knowledge of warehouse manufacturing and distribution systems, reinforced by his training in the DuPont Safety Program. As a safety vision carrier, he conducted company-wide training focused on injury prevention and culture change, helping embed safety as a core business value.
Daniel holds a number of advanced executive development credentials, including successful completion of the Harvard Business School Online curriculum, Columbia University’s program on retail and consumer behavior, and Grupo Bimbo’s Leadership Excellence program. These academic foundations support his broad-based understanding of strategy, finance, retail trends, and consumer engagement.
Outside of work, Daniel is a devoted family man—father of three and grandfather to five—who enjoys fishing, watching documentaries, and engaging with nonprofit causes. He believes deeply in servant leadership and lives by the philosophy that “when people succeed, organizations thrive.”
Now in his encore career phase, Daniel is pursuing board opportunities where he can leverage his decades of leadership, labor relations savvy, and deep operational insight to help companies build strong cultures, scale with integrity, and deliver long-term stakeholder value. He is especially drawn to organizations within CPG, food and beverage, distribution, warehouse automation, and retail, but remains open to industries that align with his commitment to people-first leadership and ethical governance.
