“Is there a better way of doing it? That question drives everything I build.”
Joshua Menold is a CEO, entrepreneur, board director, and investor whose career spanning more than two decades has been defined by a single pattern: walking into complex, high-stakes business situations and building the systems, teams, and strategies that turn them into growth platforms. From rescuing a $55M+ M&A transaction to launching new business divisions to implementing AI-powered operational workflows, Joshua operates at the intersection of financial discipline, operational execution, and forward-looking technology adoption.
Joshua currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Owner of The CHE Companies, one of the Southeast’s premier exterior construction platforms. Under his leadership, CHE has grown into a $70M+ multi-division operation with hubs in Raleigh, Wilmington, Charlotte, Greenville SC, Myrtle Beach, and Richmond VA. The company operates four distinct divisions—CHE Residential, CHE Commercial & Multifamily, CHE Signature, and Cornerstone Exterior Remodeling—spanning residential, commercial, and consumer markets across three states. Joshua led the acquisition of CHE as part of a new ownership group, architecting the post-acquisition operating model including capital structure, governance framework, and multi-state entity formation.
One of his most significant recent initiatives has been the launch of Cornerstone Exterior Remodeling, a consumer-facing division built from scratch with its own brand identity, sales infrastructure, CRM workflows, financing integration, and go-to-market strategy. Cornerstone represents CHE’s expansion directly into the homeowner market—a strategic move that diversifies revenue and creates a new growth engine alongside the company’s established builder and commercial channels.
What distinguishes Joshua from many construction-industry executives is his deep commitment to technology as a competitive advantage. At CHE, he is actively implementing AI-powered operational workflows including automated meeting-to-action processing, daily executive pulse reports, and company-wide communication drafting using Claude and custom AI agent architectures. He has deployed Leap CRM platform-wide with division-specific workflows, migrated enterprise communications to a modern VoIP system with CRM integration, and established NetSuite as the central data backbone connecting field operations, sales, and financial reporting into a unified executive dashboard. His approach reflects a belief that operational excellence in the modern era requires leveraging AI as a core business tool, not just an experiment.
In addition to leading CHE, Joshua is the founder and managing member of ITABWODI, LLC, a consulting firm through which he provides fractional C-suite advisory services to companies navigating growth, distress, and operational complexity. Through ITABWODI, he has performed company valuations and comprehensive due diligence—evaluating operations, financials, legal exposure, HR, and benefits structures—across engagements spanning construction, dental, multi-site behavioral health, and other industries. He has served as a fractional CFO and integrator for organizations with revenues exceeding $35M, built M&A models designed to evaluate and close multiple acquisitions per year, and coached CEOs on strategic leadership and organizational development. The firm’s name reflects the philosophy inherited from his grandfather: “Is There A Better Way Of Doing It?”
Beyond ITABWODI, Joshua is the founder and managing member of multiple private ventures spanning strategic consulting, data analytics, and capital allocation. His entrepreneurial portfolio reflects a builder’s mindset applied beyond the core operating role—a pattern that has defined his career from his earliest days, when he identified an untapped multi-million dollar market in university food services while earning his MBA and was hired to implement the changes, eventually overseeing a $2.5M budget with national franchise brands.
Joshua’s path to the CEO seat was built through progressively senior financial and operational leadership roles. As CFO and Board Member at Bobbitt Design Build, a premier design-build construction firm with $150M+ in revenue, he provided 360-degree strategic leadership across finance, legal, IT, HR, and administration—effectively serving as Interim CEO/COO/CIO for more than three years. He identified growth markets generating over $100M in new pipeline, led a technology overhaul that moved the company from 25% to over 90% paperless, restructured the ESOP and 401(k) strategy to create long-term shareholder wealth, and presented quarterly to the Board of Directors.
Earlier, as Director of Finance and Administration at Tower Engineering Professionals, Joshua was personally recruited by the President to rescue a $55M+ in-process M&A, performing due diligence across 40+ divisions in the US and Canada. He served as Interim CFO for over a year, closed the books for the first time in the company’s history in under 45 days, implemented NetSuite, and served as the transition manager post-close—training the incoming CFO and managing reporting to the Private Equity acquirer. His earlier career included CFO and Board Member roles at Faulkner/Haynes & Associates, where he reengineered financial systems, recovered $100K+ in tax refunds, and advised on a new territory now generating $8M+ annually, as well as progressive finance roles at K. Hovnanian Homes, a publicly traded $9B homebuilder where he managed GAAP/SOX/SEC compliance and was selected as the lead finance liaison for a corporate Oracle ERP implementation across US divisions.
Joshua’s leadership extends beyond US borders. He spent two years as Director of Operations and Finance for Makarios International in the Dominican Republic, leading operations and financial management for an international nonprofit focused on children’s safety, health, and education. He trained and developed staff, migrated key positions to Dominican nationals, partnered with 13 international groups, and implemented fund accounting processes—an experience that deepened his cross-cultural leadership skills and global perspective.
Joshua brings significant board governance experience across both corporate and nonprofit sectors. His corporate board service includes The CHE Companies (Board Member and Owner), Bobbitt Design Build (Board Member and CFO), and Faulkner/Haynes & Associates (Board Member and CFO). In the nonprofit space, he serves as a board member for Presence Over Pain and has served on the board of the American Cancer Society in North Carolina. He has also served as a board member for Mission Resource International, supporting economic empowerment in Ghana, West Africa, and is an Elder at Summit Church in Apex, NC, where he leads a small group and a monthly discipleship group.
Joshua holds an MBA in Organizational Development and Finance from Campbell University and a BBA in Business Administration from the same institution. He has completed advanced accounting coursework at Strayer University, achieving a 4.0 GPA in the Master’s Certificate program and CPA exam preparation. His professional development includes NetSuite administration certification, Vistage executive leadership programs, Maxwell Group leadership training, and cross-cultural training through MTI.
In every role he has undertaken, Joshua has exemplified the same pattern: see the full picture, build the right systems, develop the people, and drive measurable results. He is drawn to opportunities where operational complexity meets growth potential—where the right combination of financial discipline, technology, and leadership can transform a good company into a great one. His career is a testament to the belief that business leadership is about more than managing numbers; it is about building platforms that outlast any single leader.
Character
Joshua leads with integrity, resilience, and a genuine commitment to serving others—whether guiding organizations through transformation, advising CEOs through his consulting practice, or volunteering in his community as a church elder and nonprofit board member. He approaches leadership with the humility of someone who grew up on a farm in Central Illinois and the conviction of someone who has built and rescued businesses across multiple industries. The trust he earns from colleagues, partners, investors, and communities is not given lightly—it is earned through consistency between what he says and what he does.
Knowledge
With over 20 years in finance and executive leadership, Joshua possesses deep expertise spanning corporate finance, M&A due diligence, ERP implementation, operational scaling, risk management, and AI-powered business transformation. He has led NetSuite implementations, built M&A models, structured multi-state entities, managed ESOP and 401(k) strategies, and navigated SOX/GAAP/SEC compliance at a publicly traded company. His ability to synthesize technical financial skills with strategic vision and emerging technology makes him a distinctive asset to any board or leadership team.
Strategic
Joshua has a proven ability to see the full picture while executing the critical details that bring strategies to life. From rescuing a $55M+ M&A deal to launching a new consumer-facing business division to implementing AI agent workflows across a multi-division company, his work demonstrates both foresight and precision. He thrives in environments where strategic vision must translate into operational reality—and where the willingness to adopt new tools like AI separates companies that grow from companies that stagnate.
Communication
As a communicator, Joshua is clear, direct, and grounded—whether addressing boards, coaching CEOs, collaborating across cultures, or leading company-wide meetings. He has a talent for translating complex financial and operational data into actionable insights that stakeholders can understand and act upon. His collaborative style, shaped by cross-cultural experience in the Dominican Republic and years of fractional C-suite consulting, fosters trust and alignment across diverse teams and organizational contexts.
