During his first five years, based at the company’s global headquarters in Germany, he served as Global Senior Group Head of the Apparel Division. In this role, he was accountable for Product Management and Merchandising across all apparel categories and business units worldwide, helping drive extraordinary growth as the division’s revenue increased from approximately €100 million to nearly €1 billion. Building on that success, he spent the following five years based in Hong Kong, leading Puma’s expansion across the Asia Pacific region. He directed sales, merchandising, product creation, and commercial strategy while overseeing one of the company’s most significant retail growth initiatives, establishing more than 1,400 mono brand stores and shop in shop locations throughout China. During his tenure, he oversaw commercial strategy, marketing, direct to consumer growth, and product merchandising across a portfolio of world renowned brands including Salomon, Arc’teryx, Wilson, Atomic, Suunto, and Mavic. As Vice President of Commercial and Marketing for the Americas, he led a business representing approximately $1 billion in annual revenue while helping transform the company’s go to market strategy from a traditional wholesale model into a digitally enabled omnichannel ecosystem. Under his leadership, direct to consumer operations experienced exceptional growth, consumer engagement strengthened, marketing strategies became increasingly centered on the customer journey, and multiple brands achieved leadership positions within their respective categories. Joining the iconic company during a period of transformation, he led one of the music industry’s most successful commercial turnarounds. Through disciplined leadership, consumer-first thinking, and digital modernization, Gibson achieved sustained double-digit revenue growth, restored profitability, strengthened its balance sheet, and reestablished itself as the world’s leading premium guitar brand. He successfully expanded direct-to-consumer operations, launched the internationally recognized Gibson Garage experience centers in Nashville and London, modernized global technology platforms, and transformed the organization from a production-focused company into a truly consumer-centric enterprise. His leadership extended across the Americas, Europe, China, Japan, and other international markets while cultivating a highly engaged global culture built around accountability, collaboration, and shared purpose.
Most recently, as Chief Executive Officer and President of Escalade, Inc., Armin assumed full responsibility for leading the publicly traded sporting goods company through a new era of growth and operational excellence. Managing a $250 million enterprise with approximately 450 employees, he reversed years of declining sales by modernizing the company’s go-to-market strategy, improving inventory management, strengthening distribution channels, and enhancing product availability. Despite challenging global economic conditions, he delivered a 334-basis-point improvement in gross margins, generated significant EBITDA growth, reduced corporate debt by more than thirty percent, exceeded earnings expectations, and successfully completed two strategic acquisitions that strengthened the company’s competitive position. Beyond financial performance, he established a clear strategic “North Star,” introduced a house-of-brands framework, strengthened corporate identity, and launched the “Elevate” leadership development program to invest in future organizational success.
