As Chief Executive Officer of SourceTrace, Venkat transformed what was once a struggling mobile technology company into one of the world’s leading digital agriculture platforms. Under his leadership, the organization underwent a complete operational turnaround, including restructuring the business, rebuilding global engineering teams, restoring profitability, securing more than $8 million in funding from world-class impact investors, and ultimately achieving a successful strategic exit. His leadership helped scale the company’s cloud-based platform to serve more than two million farmers across over thirty countries, enabling traceability, sustainability, geospatial analytics, digital payments, and climate-resilient agricultural practices throughout Africa, Asia, and other emerging markets.
Venkat’s work at SourceTrace fundamentally changed how governments, multinational corporations, cooperatives, and agricultural ecosystems leverage technology to strengthen food security and environmental stewardship. He led nationwide digital modernization initiatives across Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria while supporting programs that digitized more than $250 million in farmer payments and enabled government-backed subsidy distribution systems serving hundreds of thousands of producers. His strategic partnerships with global organizations such as Cargill advanced ESG compliance, supply chain transparency, child labor prevention, and deforestation mitigation for more than 240,000 cocoa farmers throughout West Africa. Prior to SourceTrace, Venkat served as CIO of Bose Corporation’s Automotive Systems Division, where he directed one of the largest enterprise transformation initiatives in the company’s history. He successfully led a $200 million global SAP modernization program spanning North America, Europe, Japan, China, and Mexico, integrating manufacturing, procurement, supply chain operations, and enterprise governance into a unified global platform. His leadership also resolved critical supplier quality challenges and strengthened Bose’s global automotive operations.
Earlier in his career, Venkat held progressively senior leadership positions with Factum Ventures, ComauPICO, Ensodex, Kelton Graphics, and NASA Langley Research Center. At Factum Ventures, he evaluated and developed renewable energy, sustainability, and clean technology investments while supporting hydropower, biomass, solar, and agricultural innovation projects throughout emerging economies. During his tenure at ComauPICO and Ensodex, he led large engineering organizations responsible for enterprise product lifecycle management, automotive digitization, CAD systems, and manufacturing modernization. His early research career at NASA Langley Research Center focused on advanced computational optimization methods for aerospace engineering, contributing innovative approaches that reduced development costs while improving structural design efficiency.
