“Learn Something New Every Day”
Rogeana Patterson-King is a retired Assistant Special Agent in Charge with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), bringing over 27 years of distinguished law enforcement experience and an unwavering commitment to public service, leadership, and transformation. From undercover operations to executive leadership, Rogeana’s professional journey has been defined by integrity, excellence, and an unshakable focus on empowering others. She is currently the Founder & CEO of Kairos Coaching and Consulting, where she channels her vast experience into mentoring, leadership development, public speaking, and strategic consulting.
Her career began with the Dallas Police Department, where she honed her skills in community policing and investigations before joining the DEA in 1999. Rogeana was appointed as a Special Agent and assigned to the Los Angeles Field Division after completing training in Quantico, Virginia. From there, she went on to hold progressively responsible positions domestically and internationally, including assignments in Barbados, Puerto Rico, and at DEA Headquarters in Washington D.C. Her leadership shaped policy, dismantled major trafficking networks, and inspired the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
Throughout her DEA tenure, Rogeana led complex international conspiracy investigations targeting transnational narcotics traffickers and money launderers operating in Mexico, Pakistan, Canada, South America, and the Eastern Caribbean. Her work in building and managing global coalitions positioned her as a key asset in U.S. drug enforcement and diplomacy. She has been instrumental in coordinating international operations and overseeing strategic efforts to disrupt and dismantle criminal organizations with global footprints.
Rogeana’s ability to lead through adversity is evident in her transformation of the Caribbean Division’s Administrative Support Unit. Tasked with resolving a hostile work environment and low morale, she brought unity and renewed purpose to the team, driving operational efficiency and positive workplace culture. This is one of many examples where her leadership yielded measurable and lasting improvements, even in the most challenging environments.
In March 2020, Rogeana broke barriers as the first minority—male or female—to lead the DEA Kansas City District Office. In this role, she oversaw all operations across the state of Kansas, supervising enforcement groups, a diversion squads, and interdiction teams. Her leadership brought a 22% increase in Priority Target Organizations disruption and a 50% increase in dismantled Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force cases compared to prior years. These accomplishments highlight her strategic insight and operational expertise.
In addition to her law enforcement contributions, Rogeana is a passionate mentor and educator. She is a certified DEA course developer, Clearing-certified Facilitator, and certified Public Information Officer. She has designed and delivered courses in leadership, team building, and conspiracy investigation for law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and educational institutions. She also frequently serves as a keynote speaker, delivering powerful, motivating talks on topics like overcoming adversity, youth empowerment, and women in leadership.
In 2018, Rogeana founded the Women’s Inspirational Network (WIN), a peer-mentorship program that supports professional development for DEA female employees. Starting with just 15 women, the network has grown to nearly 91 members across various DEA roles, illustrating her dedication to fostering inclusive and supportive professional communities. WIN has inspired members to pursue promotions and new assignments, showcasing Rogeana’s impact as a transformational leader.
Her accolades are many, including eight DEA Sustained Superior Performance Awards, seven On-the-Spot Awards, the DEA Administrator’s Outstanding Group Achievement Award, and the prestigious International Narcotics Enforcement Officer Association Special Achievement Award. Her recognition is a reflection of her consistency, work ethic, and results-driven mindset.
Since retiring from the DEA in 2022, Rogeana has embraced her new role as a coach, speaker, and consultant through Kairos Coaching and Consulting. Her services focus on life and career transformation, leadership development, and strategic conflict resolution. She also manages rental and commercial real estate through Kairos Enterprise LLC. Her passion now lies in helping others unlock their potential and lead lives filled with purpose, clarity, and confidence.
