Marty Sanders is an accomplished technology executive, strategic advisor, investor, and board-level leader whose career spans more than 37 years across technology, cybersecurity, financial services, enterprise infrastructure, professional services, and venture capital. Throughout his career, Marty has developed a reputation for connecting sophisticated technology with practical business outcomes, helping organizations strengthen customer relationships, scale operations, develop high-performing teams, and identify new avenues for growth. From emerging companies seeking direction to established enterprises navigating transformation, he brings the perspective of an executive who has worked across technical, commercial, operational, customer-facing, and investment environments. His approach is grounded in listening carefully, understanding what customers and markets genuinely need, and translating those insights into strategies that organizations can execute.
Today, Marty applies that experience as a Senior Technical Advisor with Searchlight Capital Partners, where he advises investment professionals on market trends, deal sourcing, due diligence, and potential investment opportunities. His work extends beyond evaluating businesses to helping portfolio companies think through business development, scaling, governance, leadership, and value creation. He also supports founders and executive teams as they navigate strategic decisions and growth, drawing on an extensive professional network to facilitate relationships with investors, partners, customers, and other industry stakeholders. This combination of investment perspective and operating experience enables Marty to examine opportunities from multiple angles while remaining focused on the fundamentals required to create sustainable enterprise value.
Marty has also maintained a longstanding relationship with Rally Ventures, serving as a Venture Tech Partner and Technical Advisor. Since becoming involved with Rally in 2013, he has worked alongside the team to identify and assess investment opportunities while helping portfolio companies accelerate growth in areas aligned with his expertise. Working with entrepreneurs and younger organizations has become an especially meaningful part of his career. Marty understands the challenges of taking a company from promising technology and early market traction to repeatable execution, scalable operations, stronger customer relationships, and sustainable growth. His advisory interests extend across finance, fintech, artificial intelligence, technology, services, cybersecurity, payment processing, eCommerce, networking, and enterprise infrastructure.
His operating leadership is equally extensive. As Chief Customer Officer at Origina, Marty built and managed the Customer Success organization while leading customer operations throughout the post-sales lifecycle. Under his leadership, the organization achieved 110% customer retention and an NPS of 94, reflecting his commitment to building customer-centric organizations that pair technical expertise with exceptional service. He also managed and retained a worldwide network of more than 800 technology consultants and led the Customer and Partner Council, using direct executive feedback to strengthen alignment among customers, partners, products, and the broader business. This role demonstrated a recurring theme throughout Marty’s career: customers should not simply receive a product or service—they should have a meaningful voice in how an organization evolves.
Earlier, Marty held senior leadership roles at Arctic Wolf, including Chief Technology Officer and Chief Security Officer. As CTO, he helped accelerate and expand the company’s managed service provider business, consistently exceeding revenue objectives and securing Arctic Wolf’s largest MSP partner at the time. He served as an important bridge between customers, partners, and Engineering, bringing field intelligence into conversations about potential product roadmap priorities and future market requirements. As Chief Security Officer, Marty led security delivery and operations while expanding the Concierge Security Team from approximately 15 professionals to more than 120. He worked directly with customers around the world to strengthen security posture and regularly represented executive leadership before customers, partners, management teams, boards, and relevant regulatory and rating organizations.
Marty’s ability to translate technology into commercial opportunity was also central to his leadership at Kaminario, where he served as CTO for North America and Worldwide Vice President of Field Engineering. He worked closely with customers, strategic partners, analysts, technical teams, and Engineering to translate market requirements into potential product priorities and strengthen the company’s technical differentiation. His responsibilities included executive customer engagements, technical training, customer councils, industry events, strategic presentations, and field leadership. These experiences reinforced his ability to operate comfortably at the intersection of technology, sales, product strategy, customer experience, and executive communication—an intersection that has defined much of his professional career.
A significant chapter in Marty’s leadership journey came through Compellent and subsequently Dell following Dell’s approximately $960 million acquisition of Compellent in 2011. During more than a decade with the organization, Marty held senior positions including Vice President of Technology Services and Executive Director of Technology and Services. He participated in the integration following the acquisition and built and managed worldwide Storage Architect and customer service organizations. His experience scaling teams and operating functions has ranged from building organizations from their earliest stages to leading structures involving hundreds of professionals. Those experiences gave him firsthand understanding of the organizational discipline, leadership development, customer focus, and execution required as companies move through significant stages of growth.
Marty’s foundation in technology and customer-facing leadership was established through earlier roles with Xiotech, Computer Network Technology, and Triad Systems. Beginning as a field engineer, he progressively expanded his responsibilities into account management, technology leadership, and business development before moving into increasingly senior executive positions. That career progression gave him an unusually broad perspective: he understands what happens in the field, what customers expect from sales and service organizations, what technical teams require to execute effectively, and what executives and investors need to consider when making strategic decisions. His technical background spans storage, networking, virtualization, data centers, cloud computing, enterprise software, managed services, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and related enterprise technologies.
Beyond executive management, Marty brings meaningful board and governance experience. He has served in board and advisory capacities, including service with Origina, a Dublin-based technology company, and his ongoing work with investment organizations and portfolio companies. He is particularly interested in opportunities where his combination of technical expertise, operating experience, customer orientation, and industry relationships can help leadership teams evaluate opportunities and execute against them. Marty has experience with large enterprises but remains open to organizations at different stages of development, including companies growing from approximately $3 million to $30 million and beyond. He is especially drawn to finance, fintech, services, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and technology businesses, while remaining receptive to organizations in other industries where his experience can create meaningful value.
His perspective is also international. Marty has professional exposure across Ireland, Germany, France, the United States, and broader global customer and partner environments. He has extensive experience communicating publicly and is comfortable addressing executive audiences, boards, customers, partners, investors, technical professionals, and industry groups. Whether discussing security strategy, customer requirements, technology differentiation, investment opportunities, or organizational growth, he works to make complex ideas understandable and actionable. His ability to listen is as important to his communication style as his ability to present; he believes effective leadership begins with understanding the people, customers, and circumstances behind a business challenge.
Marty earned an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics from DeVry University, graduating with a 3.87 GPA and receiving recognition on the Dean’s List, President’s List, and Presidential Honor Society. His education provided an early technical foundation that developed into decades of hands-on experience across infrastructure, storage, networking, security, software, services, sales, customer success, and executive leadership. Over time, that technical grounding expanded into expertise in team building, product strategy, market analysis, investment evaluation, executive relationships, business development, partner management, customer retention, and organizational scaling.
At this stage of his career, Marty is motivated by the opportunity to continue contributing rather than simply reflecting on what he has already accomplished. He believes decades of experience have given him knowledge, relationships, and pattern recognition that can be especially valuable to founders, executives, investors, and boards confronting consequential decisions. He enjoys working with younger companies and leadership teams where an experienced perspective can help turn ambition into disciplined execution. Above all, Marty remains energized by solving problems, developing people, strengthening businesses, and determining how technology can provide greater value to customers. Board and advisory service provide a natural platform for him to continue doing that work while helping the next generation of companies and leaders grow.
