Connecting AI Governance, Transformation Recovery, and Business Value

“From AI Promise to Proven Value.”

Kris Kassem is a technology and business transformation leader focused on helping organizations turn complex technology investments into business value. With more than 20 years of international experience across financial services, telecommunications, and mining, he combines enterprise delivery leadership with practical expertise in artificial intelligence, data platforms, and technology risk.

His approach connects three priorities: choosing the right investments, governing the risks, and delivering the intended results. Across organizations including Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC Capital Markets, Rogers Communications, and BHP, his experience spans infrastructure modernization, banking integration, data and analytics, regulatory change, and AI enablement. The common thread is a focus on connecting technical decisions to business objectives, operational resilience, and accountable execution.

For Kris, innovation is not an end in itself. Its value depends on whether an organization can adopt it responsibly, integrate it into operations, and demonstrate that it solves a meaningful problem. His guiding principle—“From AI Promise to Proven Value”—captures that perspective.

Leading Through Complexity

Kris’s career has developed in environments where technology change must coexist with operational continuity, regulatory obligations, and competing stakeholder priorities. These settings have shaped his emphasis on clear governance, realistic delivery plans, and timely escalation of risks.

At Scotiabank, his experience included enterprise transformation programs with stated budgets ranging from $30 million to $400 million. At BMO, his work included leadership of an approximately 2,200-machine ATM modernization initiative associated with a roughly $70 million budget. These engagements brought together technology delivery, vendor coordination, financial discipline, and the practical demands of change at scale.

His international experience also includes the recovery of an Al Hilal Bank data center transformation delivered ahead of schedule and under budget. That experience illustrates a recurring theme in his work: when a program loses momentum, restoring delivery requires more than a revised schedule. It requires an accurate understanding of the obstacles, clear ownership, and renewed alignment between leadership decisions and execution.

Bringing AI Strategy Closer to Execution

Kris brings a hands-on perspective to AI strategy. In addition to his enterprise leadership experience, he has designed and developed three production AI systems. That practical involvement informs how he approaches the gap between an attractive demonstration and a solution that can operate reliably in a business environment.

His focus extends beyond model capability to the conditions that make AI useful: appropriate data, meaningful evaluation, integration with existing processes, security, oversight, and adoption. This creates a connection between executive discussions about opportunity and the delivery decisions that determine whether that opportunity becomes real.

He views responsible AI adoption and commercial value as connected objectives. Leadership teams need a clear understanding of the problem being addressed, the investment required, the risks being accepted, and the evidence that will demonstrate progress. His contribution is to help bring those questions into the same conversation.

Recovering Programs and Strengthening Investment Discipline

Through Flamed Fox Consulting, Kris advises leadership teams on program recovery, responsible AI adoption, technology investment governance, and cost optimization. His work centers on helping organizations understand where execution is breaking down and what must change to restore confidence in delivery.

His approach emphasizes practical questions: Is the business objective still clear? Are decision rights and responsibilities understood? Are risks visible early enough to act? Is the organization measuring delivery activity or meaningful business progress?

This perspective reflects a broader belief that transformation is a business responsibility supported by technology—not simply a technology project. Sustainable improvement depends on leadership alignment, capable teams, disciplined governance, and the willingness to adjust when evidence challenges the original plan.

A Practical Contribution to Boards and Advisory Teams

Kris is pursuing board and advisory opportunities where his experience can support technology investment oversight, responsible AI adoption, cybersecurity risk discussions, and operational resilience. He brings experience working with senior decision-makers in complex governance environments, together with an understanding of how transformation programs operate in practice.

His prospective contribution is the ability to connect strategic ambition with execution realities: examining whether an investment has a credible path to value, whether its risks are understood, and whether leadership has the information needed to intervene effectively.

Rather than treating technology as a separate boardroom subject, his perspective connects it to business performance, customer outcomes, resilience, and long-term competitiveness.

Sharing Knowledge and Building Capability

Alongside his consulting and transformation work, Kris creates educational content that makes technology and AI more accessible. His published learning resources include more than 100 free video lessons, reflecting an interest in helping others move from curiosity to practical understanding.

This commitment to knowledge sharing complements his leadership approach. Clear communication helps people understand not only what is changing, but why it matters, what is expected of them, and how their work contributes to the larger objective.

Across enterprise delivery, advisory work, and education, Kris’s focus remains consistent: bringing clarity to complexity and helping organizations turn promising ideas into responsible, durable business results.

Kris holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA). His academic development complements his practical experience leading complex technology and business transformation initiatives.
