Currently serving as Executive Director of Tanner Community Development Corporation (TCDC), Kerwin leads initiatives that address some of Arizona’s most pressing challenges, including affordable housing, education, health equity, workforce development, and economic opportunity. Since assuming the role permanently in 2022 after serving as Interim Executive Director, he has helped guide the organization through a period of growth while advancing innovative community-focused initiatives. Among the most impactful projects under his leadership is the Tiny Homes for Homeless Veterans Project, an ambitious development designed to provide permanent housing, wraparound services, and a resource center that supports veterans transitioning out of homelessness with dignity and stability.

Kerwin’s passion for community development extends beyond housing initiatives. Throughout his career, he has championed financial literacy, economic empowerment, and equitable access to capital for underserved communities. As Founder and Managing Principal of K-Vaughn Consulting, LLC, he has worked to increase access to responsible financing while promoting financial education programs that help individuals and small businesses establish long-term financial security. His work reflects a belief that financial empowerment is foundational to stronger families, healthier neighborhoods, and more resilient local economies.

In addition to his nonprofit leadership, Kerwin has built an impressive career in the financial services industry. His leadership experience includes serving as Vice President of Financial Services at Wells Fargo, where he directed investment, banking, lending, and retail operations while developing high-performing teams and strengthening client relationships. Earlier leadership positions with Nationwide Insurance and Transamerica provided him with extensive experience in insurance, financial planning, sales management, and business development. These roles established a strong operational and financial foundation that continues to influence his executive leadership style today.

Kerwin is also the Founder and Managing Principal of K-Vaughn Consulting, LLC, where he has advised nonprofit organizations, municipalities, financial institutions, and community organizations on strategic planning, organizational development, fundraising, partnership development, and capacity building. His consulting work has enabled organizations to improve governance, strengthen operations, expand community engagement, and secure sustainable growth. His ability to connect public, private, and nonprofit stakeholders has become one of his defining professional strengths, allowing him to facilitate collaborations that generate measurable and lasting results.

A recognized advocate for minority business development and economic inclusion, Kerwin previously served as President and CEO of The Black Chamber of Arizona, where he provided executive leadership to one of the state’s leading business advocacy organizations. He also held national leadership responsibilities as Treasurer and Western Regional Director for the United States Black Chambers, Inc. Kerwin’s commitment to public service is reflected through his extensive board leadership and civic engagement. He currently serves on several nonprofit and advisory boards, including Morrison Institute, where he provides advisory insight into public policy research related to housing and homelessness, and Local First Arizona, where he served as Chairman. He also contributes his expertise to Take Charge America, Tanner Properties, and other community organizations dedicated to financial education, community revitalization, and nonprofit governance. These leadership roles demonstrate his ability to navigate complex organizational environments while helping mission-driven organizations maximize their impact.

Known for his collaborative leadership style, Kerwin excels at bringing together diverse stakeholders around shared goals. His expertise spans healthcare, banking, insurance, budgeting, workforce development, business development, nonprofit management, community development, strategic partnerships, and organizational leadership. Whether working with elected officials, business executives, nonprofit leaders, or community advocates, he consistently builds trust through authenticity, thoughtful communication, and an unwavering commitment to service. His leadership philosophy emphasizes listening first, building consensus, and creating solutions that generate long-term value rather than short-term results.
