Jeffrey P. Baker is a results-driven executive and boardroom leader with a career defined by award-winning turnaround expertise, operational reinvention, and strategic guidance across complex, high-stakes environments. With a career spanning over three decades, Jeffrey has held C-suite roles in both public and private companies, served on numerous domestic and international boards, and led successful transformations in industries ranging from financial services and manufacturing to technology and consulting.
Currently a strategic advisor to Rocktop Technology, a fintech innovator specializing in predictive analytics for mortgage assets, Jeffrey is also the former President and CEO of Mortgage Asset Management, a Waterfall Asset Management portfolio company. There, he architected a high-performance oversight platform across a vast portfolio of mortgage servicing rights, representing the largest reverse mortgage portfolio in the U.S. His strategic leadership extended to high-level relationships with FHA, GNMA, and FNMA, and his oversight improved the economic value of portfolios by over $100 million.
Previously, Jeffrey served as Interim President and CEO of Ditech Holdings (NYSE: DHCP), guiding the company’s emergence from bankruptcy and leading a strategic operational turnaround of over $200 billion in mortgage servicing. His tenure included executive leadership roles at Reverse Mortgage Solutions and Walter Investment Management Corp., where he introduced significant reforms in default servicing and compliance that were widely recognized by regulators and industry peers.
As Co-founder and CEO of MAYDAY Capital Advisors, Jeffrey continues to provide turnaround and restructuring expertise to distressed companies. Earlier, he led the national Turnaround and Restructuring practice at Wipfli LLP, where he and his team earned the Turnaround Management Association’s “Turnaround of the Year” award for addressing a complex fraud case in the manufacturing sector.
Jeffrey’s distinguished track record includes his role as CRO and later acting CEO of Genmar, then the second-largest U.S. recreational boat manufacturer. He led the company through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, slashed a $5 million monthly cash burn, and executed a Section 363 sale that fully repaid senior creditors—earning national recognition for transaction excellence. He also successfully turned around Weathershield Manufacturing, transforming a negative $26 million EBITDA into a $7 million cash-positive outcome and ensuring the family-owned company avoided bankruptcy.
Earlier in his career, Jeffrey was a senior executive and global Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he helped lead the $6 billion consulting division and oversaw Strategy and Corporate Development. He played a pivotal role in the historic separation and sale of PwC Consulting to IBM—a deal that won “Deal of the Year” honors from Institutional Investor magazine.
A seasoned board member, Jeffrey currently serves on the boards of Weathershield Manufacturing and the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA). His past board service includes public and private companies such as Genmar Holdings, Analysts International (NASDAQ: ANLY), Cartesis (France), Dacom Systems Technologies (South Korea), and Digineer. He has also served on nonprofit boards, including the Children’s Home Society and Excel Charities.
Jeffrey holds a B.B.A. from Texas A&M University (cum laude) and completed executive studies in M&A at the Kellogg School of Management. A Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a qualified audit committee financial expert, he brings financial rigor and strategic acumen to every board he serves.
Outside of business, Jeffrey is a recreational rancher dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating aged and neglected horses and donkeys in the Texas Hill Country.
