Empowering people and organizations through safety, learning, and systems that transform performance.

Edith “Edie” McKelvey is an accomplished global training and systems leader whose career has been defined by a passion for improving safety, strengthening operational performance, and enabling organizations to thrive through knowledge and collaboration. With a background rooted in chemical engineering and a professional journey that spans more than two decades across global companies including International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), DuPont, and Dow, she has built a reputation for translating complex technical environments into effective learning systems that empower people and drive measurable results.

Throughout her career, Edie has distinguished herself as a leader who bridges the gap between engineering rigor and human development. Her work focuses on integrating environmental health and safety systems with scalable training programs that help organizations operate more safely, efficiently, and compliantly. By combining data driven decision making with collaborative leadership, she has successfully guided global teams through complex system transitions, operational improvements, and organizational change.

Most recently, Edie served as Global EHS Systems, Learning and Improvement Leader at International Flavors & Fragrances, where she oversaw safety systems and learning processes across more than 180 global sites. In this role, she led cross functional teams to evaluate and deploy an enterprise operations management platform that unified safety processes and training documentation across the organization. Her leadership helped deliver significant operational improvements, including one million dollars in cost savings and the elimination of more than twenty six thousand hours of training through streamlined processes and better aligned learning systems.

A key hallmark of Edie’s leadership at IFF was her ability to modernize global training and safety infrastructure. She directed the development and deployment of more than fifty SCORM based e learning courses designed to meet global regulatory requirements while also supporting multilingual and culturally diverse teams. Through thoughtful program design and strategic system integration, she successfully improved access to critical compliance training and strengthened the organization’s overall safety culture.

Edie also led the integration of a unified EHS incident management system across the company’s global operations. This initiative standardized safety metrics and reporting processes across dozens of countries, improving compliance oversight and strengthening the company’s ability to track and respond to operational risks. Her work in this area exemplifies her ability to combine technical system architecture with practical operational insight.

Prior to joining IFF, Edie held a key leadership role at DuPont as Nutrition and Biosciences EHS Systems Manager. During a time of major corporate transformation following the DowDuPont merger and spin off, she led the integration and modernization of environmental health and safety systems across multiple global sites. Her work included coordinating the migration of more than one hundred twenty compliance training courses into DuPont’s learning management system while implementing improvements that increased employee satisfaction with the training experience by forty percent.

Edie’s role during the DowDuPont transition further demonstrated her strength as a change leader. She collaborated closely with operations, information technology, and safety teams to ensure continuity of training, documentation, and compliance processes during the merger integration. By guiding leaders and technical teams through these changes, she helped maintain operational stability and ensure that critical safety programs remained effective throughout the transition.

Earlier in her career at Dow Chemical, Edie served in several progressively responsible roles that shaped her unique blend of engineering expertise and learning leadership. As Global Learning Leader for Energy and Environmental technologies, she developed and deployed technical training programs for engineers across Dow’s global operations. Among her most notable contributions was the creation of the Electrical 101 and Energy 101 training programs, which transformed complex engineering concepts into engaging learning experiences that improved safety awareness and operational capability among engineers and technical teams.

Before moving into learning leadership, Edie built a strong technical foundation as an Optimization Engineer within Dow’s energy systems operations. In this role she analyzed and optimized power generation and energy usage across four manufacturing plants in Texas Operations.. Her work helped generate nearly ninety million dollars in savings by maximizing fuel efficiency and optimizing power sales under varying market conditions. These early achievements demonstrate her analytical mindset and commitment to operational excellence.

Across every stage of her career, Edie has demonstrated a consistent commitment to empowering people through knowledge. She believes that organizations achieve lasting success when employees understand both the technical and operational context of their work. This philosophy has guided her approach to training development, system integration, and leadership, helping teams not only meet compliance standards but also build confidence and competence in complex operational environments.

Edie holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Sociology Minor from the University of Florida and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader. Her professional achievements have been recognized through multiple awards for safety systems implementation, organizational data transitions, and technical training innovation. These honors reflect both her technical contributions and her ability to deliver impactful solutions within large global organizations. In addition, Edie contributed to GLBT and Women’s employee resource groups, and was the Dow recruitment leader for the University of Florida.

In recent months, Edie has taken time to further expand her expertise by exploring emerging technologies and the evolving role of artificial intelligence in learning development. Through professional learning and reflection, she has continued to strengthen her perspective on how digital tools can enhance workforce development and organizational performance. With greater flexibility for travel and a renewed focus on leadership opportunities, she is eager to apply her experience to organizations seeking to elevate safety, learning, and operational excellence.

Edie McKelvey’s career reflects a powerful combination of technical expertise, strategic leadership, and genuine commitment to helping people succeed.
