Dave’s professional story began during a period of extraordinary technological transformation. Early on he worked with pioneering information technology and telecommunications organizations that shaped the digital age. At CompuServe, a pioneer online services provider, Dave set up and promoted novel online consumer information services, foreshadowing today’s internet platforms: online communities, electronic communication, news, weather, shopping, travel, and banking services. This experience gave him a front-row seat to information technology innovation and fostered a lifelong passion for helping organizations benefit from adopting innovative technology.
Building on exposure to emerging technology, Dave joined Battelle, one of the world’s largest research and development organizations. He managed a team working on market development for an advanced information management relational database system for Fortune 500 enterprise applications. At Information Dimensions, this Battelle for-profit spinoff, he developed expertise in market analysis, product positioning, competitive intelligence, and strategic computer manufacturer alliances. His contributions helped introduce database management and document storage and retrieval solutions to corporations operating the most advanced computer systems.
Dave’s marketing and sales leadership roles extended into multiple industries. At Gilson Company, a global manufacturer and distributor of materials testing equipment and R&D laboratory instruments, he led marketing, sales, and technical support teams in expanding the company’s international presence. He developed reseller networks, introduced innovative standards-based testing technologies, and supported quality assurance testing and research laboratories serving commercial and government sectors. This experience broadened his understanding of manufacturing, engineering-driven organizations, and specialized technical products.
Dave later joined United McGill Corporation, where he directed business development and marketing efforts for a diversified manufacturing enterprise specializing in industrial air handling systems, pollution control technologies, engineered acoustical products, and industrial processing equipment. He led strategic marketing initiatives, supported multiple business divisions, and represented the organization internationally, including participating in trade missions to expand economic opportunities and strengthen global partnerships. He demonstrated ability to connect strategy with execution to drive measurable growth.
In the next phase of his career, Dave renewed his involvement with large enterprise software–customer relationship management cloud-based solutions and telecommunications platforms. As Director of Marketing for Wilke Global, he helped position its innovative Consumer Relationship System within 125 Fortune 500 Consumer Packaged Goods Companies’ Consumer Care centers. He helped launch the cloud-based service that enabled users to improve consumer service and engagement, and the centers’ operating efficiency. His leadership contributed to this private company’s growth and positioned it for later acquisition.
Dave continued to build upon this expertise through senior leadership roles with NICE inContact and TelStrat International, where he focused on market intelligence, business development, workforce optimization technology, and customer experience solutions. Dave was known for his ability to evaluate trends, analyze competitive landscapes, develop effective go-to-market strategies, and translate complex solutions into compelling value propositions. He supported high-growth organizations operating in rapidly evolving software markets, supporting his reputation as a trusted advisor.
Entrepreneurship is a theme of Dave’s recent professional activities. He established Critical Advantage Corporation to advise startups engaged in novel cybersecurity, microsensor integrated circuits, bioscience data analytics, healthcare innovation, environmental monitoring, and most recently AI-enhanced augmented reality workplace skills learning. Recently Dave served as chief executive and board chair of MassMatrix, Inc., a software startup focused on advanced biodata analytics and workflow platforms supporting gene therapy research, quality assurance, and quality control. He oversaw a new round of fundraising, hiring a new development team, and introduction of the firm at an international biotech trade conference in Boston.
