Bibek Das: Building Products Customers Love, Scaling Businesses with Purpose

Published on:

Bibek Das is a seasoned product, technology, and business leader with more than 25 years of experience shaping digital platforms, payments businesses, SaaS products, and global commercialization strategies. His career has been defined by an ability to move fluidly between product vision, market execution, operational leadership, and revenue growth, while maintaining a consistent focus on customer value. Across roles in global enterprises, growth-stage organizations, and entrepreneurial ventures, he has developed a reputation for turning complex business challenges into scalable products, stronger market positions, and measurable commercial outcomes.

Today, Bibek serves as Director of Product Management, Strategy, and Commercialization at Visa, where he leads strategy, development, and commercialization efforts across a global dispute portfolio serving issuers, acquirers, merchants, and partners. In this role, he has helped scale AI-native, cloud-based dispute products from approximately $35 million to more than $166 million in annual recurring revenue, while driving significant adoption growth and sustained expansion. His work combines long-range product strategy with disciplined execution, drawing on customer insights, market sizing, pricing, packaging, and portfolio prioritization to guide investment decisions and accelerate growth.

A defining aspect of Bibek’s leadership at Visa has been his ability to bring emerging technologies into practical commercial use. He helped launch a GenAI-powered dispute solution that materially increased automation while reducing manual errors, and he has also contributed to the development of agentic-AI decisioning capabilities. Rather than treating artificial intelligence as a standalone innovation, he approaches AI as a business tool that must improve customer outcomes, strengthen operating performance, and create durable revenue opportunities. This perspective reflects his broader philosophy of product leadership: technology has the greatest value when it solves meaningful problems and is supported by a clear path to adoption and monetization.

Before Visa, Bibek served at WeWork in senior product strategy and commercialization leadership roles, where he was promoted from Director to Senior Director within a short period. There, he helped lead strategy and commercialization for a digital portfolio valued at more than $500 million and launched new product portfolios by aligning Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance. His experience at WeWork further strengthened his ability to lead in fast-moving environments where ambiguity, competing priorities, and cross-functional coordination require both strategic clarity and strong executive communication.

His career also includes significant leadership in retail, digital commerce, and payments transformation. At Kohl’s Technologies, Bibek led mobile and in-store digital initiatives supporting more than $100 million in commerce programs and helped increase digital traffic through integrated loyalty experiences spanning digital and physical channels. Earlier, as Executive Vice President and U.S. Head of Product Strategy, Solution Engineering, and Growth at RS Software, he helped rebuild the company’s U.S. payments business following a steep decline, driving substantial revenue growth, adding millions in new business, and significantly improving acquisition economics. These experiences demonstrate his ability to lead not only in growth environments, but also in turnaround situations where disciplined strategy and commercial execution are critical.

Bibek’s tenure at PayPal was another important chapter in his career progression. As Senior Manager for PayPal-as-a-Service Digital Products Platform, he led the next-generation API product platform and developer experience initiative after previous attempts had struggled to gain traction. By translating merchant and developer needs into scalable platform capabilities, he helped deliver more than 180 RESTful APIs while modernizing over 350 legacy services across numerous engineering teams. This work sharpened his expertise in platform strategy, developer ecosystems, B2B and B2C services, and the organizational leadership required to modernize complex technology environments.

Entrepreneurship has also played a meaningful role in shaping Bibek’s perspective. As co-founder and Head of Product and Engineering for an e-commerce and electronic payments startup, he helped take a social commerce and cross-border payments concept from idea to live operation. The venture launched a PCI-DSS-certified e-wallet and secure payments platform and established partnerships with prominent brands, providing Bibek with firsthand experience in product-market fit, strategic partnerships, lean execution, and zero-to-one product development. That founder’s mindset continues to inform his approach to innovation, helping him balance ambition with practical execution and customer-centered decision-making.

Earlier in his career, Bibek spent more than eight years with RS Software as Vice President and Global Head of Products and Solutions Delivery. In that capacity, he led teams of more than 450 professionals across the United States, United Kingdom, and EMEA while overseeing major payments programs and product delivery initiatives. Under his leadership, global payments revenue expanded significantly, and he gained deep experience in global delivery, P&L ownership, executive stakeholder management, product strategy, commercialization, and large-scale team leadership. His international experience across the U.K., Japan, India, the United States, and broader global markets has given him a broad perspective on how products, customers, and business models differ across regions.

Bibek brings particular depth in fintech, payments, e-commerce, B2B SaaS, AI and GenAI products, API platforms, product-led revenue growth, pricing and packaging, dispute management, chargebacks, portfolio management, annual and quarterly planning, sales enablement, and regional expansion. He is especially interested in board and advisory opportunities in fintech and retail, while remaining open to organizations of different sizes and stages. His board value lies in the combination of product expertise and commercial judgment: he understands how to move from market opportunity to product strategy, from product strategy to operating execution, and from execution to sustainable growth.

Beyond his operating roles, Bibek has increasingly extended his influence through advisory work, thought leadership, and education. He serves as an industry advisor, supporting start-ups and scaling companies in payments, product development, go-to-market strategy, and commercialization. He has also contributed as an online instructor and coach in product management and has written and spoken on topics related to payments, friendly fraud, product-led growth, and product strategy. His recent certifications in AI foundations, generative AI, and AI agents reflect a commitment to continuous learning and to remaining current as technology reshapes product leadership and executive decision-making.

Bibek’s academic foundation includes both a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Technology in Systems Engineering and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. This blend of engineering discipline and systems thinking has been evident throughout his career, particularly in his ability to connect technical complexity with business outcomes. He combines analytical rigor with a strong commercial orientation, giving him the ability to challenge assumptions, structure complex decisions, and guide teams toward pragmatic, scalable solutions.

His leadership also extends beyond corporate settings. Bibek has contributed to cultural, educational, and social-service organizations as a co-founder and director, reflecting a broader commitment to community and institution building. He has also participated in industry associations, including the Electronic Transaction Association, where he served as a member of the Technology Committee. A writer by interest and a mentor by inclination, he values the exchange of ideas and sees leadership as an opportunity to help people, products, and organizations develop beyond their current limits.

Bibek’s interest in board service is a natural extension of a career spent advising leaders, building products, scaling businesses, and navigating complex strategic decisions. Having accumulated decades of experience across large enterprises, entrepreneurial ventures, global markets, and emerging technologies, he is well positioned to contribute at the governance level. He brings the perspective of an operator who understands execution, the judgment of an advisor who can evaluate alternatives, and the curiosity of a lifelong learner who continues to engage with new technologies and business models. His guiding belief—building products customers love—captures both his professional focus and his larger leadership philosophy: sustainable growth begins by creating real value for the people and organizations a business serves.
