Andrew L. Hollenbeck (Andy) is a dynamic technology executive with over 30 years of experience building, scaling and investing in SaaS, mobile, Martech and cloud-data enabled technology companies.
Throughout his career, Andy has demonstrated an exceptional ability to conceive, launch, grow and pivot businesses, leading them from early-stage through profitable enterprises with annual recurring revenues of $50 million ARR or more and numerous successful exits through mergers and acquisitions.
Currently, as President and CEO of Hollenco Inc., Andy leverages his extensive expertise in product, revenue strategy, capital investment, operational development and M&A to advise early-stage to public companies. Most recently, Andy was the Head of Conversational Messaging at Mailchimp/Intuit, following the successful acquisition of his company Chatitive Inc, in 2021. As a Founder and Chatitive CEO, Andy partnered with Madrona Venture Group to fund the company’s early-state investment rounds and bring its AI chat-bot technologies to market through its proprietary two-way (Conversational) mobile-messaging platform. Andy’s CEO tenure with Chatitive was distinguished by making a strategic pivot of the company’s product and business model to a SaaS Subcription focused on serving eCommerce stores and distinct Brand clients. This move resulted in a tripling of the customer base and recurring revenues within 18 months and achievement of profitability, leading to the acquisition by Mailchimp & merger with Intuit. As a component of the acquisition terms, Andy and his team stayed post-acquisition to successfully integrate and operationalize Chatitive’s Cloud-based software platform and mobile messaging products into the Mailchimp-Intuit product stack.
Prior to his CEO role at Chatitive, Andy Co-Founded Root Metrics from inception and held the role of Chief Revenue Officer and Board Member through its acquisition by IHS Markit (now an OOKLA company within Ziff Davis Media). At RootMetrics, Andy and his team created the leading Smartphone performance measurement Company in the US and Western Europe. His pioneering work included launching the first crowd-sourced Android app for wireless performance measurement and developing proprietary scoring methodologies (RootScore) that garnered national attention through partnerships with Nielsen Telecom, major carriers, device manufacturers and wireless infrastructure companies. As the company gained momentum, it’s RootScore became the basis for numerous national media campaigns featured in commercials aired during NFL Super Bowl broadcasts. As part of the business model, RootMetrics launched a SaaS subscription of it’s syndicated RootScore Reports. Additionally, the company offered Advertising Claims licensing model that enabled the creation of a highly dominant B2C and B2B brand.
By the time the RootMetrics was acquired by HIS Markit in 2015, the Company had grown its recurring annual revenues to $50mm, was highly profitable and had become the wireless industry standard of performance measurement with customers spanning the US and Europe.
Andrew’s international exposure spans markets in the UK, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, and the broader European region. His global perspective is complemented by prior leadership roles at Microsoft, where he drove strategic sales and partnership initiatives within Microsoft Advertising. Earlier in his career he held roles in Sales leadership, Network operations and Business Development with companies DSIQ, RevenueScience, Brick Road Networks, and SaltMine Creative.
A graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Communication, Andy continues to combine his passion for technology, innovative business strategies, and creating winning team development. His personal interests include the Seattle Mariners, outdoor pursuits such as skiing, hiking, and watersports. His personal mission—“I believe a solution company’s success comes from worrying about our customers’ customer. We should intensely focus everything we do on enabling the client to serve it’s customers”. This mission and mantra enable Andy to be highly effective at advising startups and established enterprises alike, making him a sought-after board member and advisor.
