“Leading with Honesty, Integrity & Diligence”
Amy Richter is a seasoned financial executive with over two decades of experience driving operational and financial excellence across the medical, IT, manufacturing, and consulting sectors. With a foundational belief that great leadership is rooted in service, Amy leads with a people-first mindset—committed to building strong teams and guiding businesses toward long-term success through sound financial strategies and honest guidance. Whether streamlining systems for efficiency or advising small businesses through pivotal moments, Amy is known for her calm resolve, depth of knowledge, and unwavering dedication to integrity.
Amy’s financial journey began at the grassroots level—working in an office at an electric company, where she discovered a natural aptitude for numbers and processes. Driven to build on that experience, she returned to school and earned her Associate Degree in Accounting from Lansing Community College in 2013. Since then, she has held various leadership roles including Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, and currently, CEO of her own firm, Running Amok Bookkeeping & Consulting. Each step of her journey has added new layers to her expertise in accounting, finance, and business management.
Over the course of her 23-year career, Amy has worked across multiple industries and business models—from local home healthcare providers to mid-cap neuroscience companies with global distribution networks. At NeuroNexus Technologies, she managed financial documentation for state and federal grants, ensuring compliance and accuracy under the pressure of audit standards. She also played an instrumental role in transforming outdated systems into modernized, data-driven processes to maximize operational efficiency.
At Rhino Tool House, Amy served in two different divisions—Power Tools & Supply and Lathrup Industries—where she helped lead the company through a sale process. She was instrumental in due diligence, audit preparation, and post-sale transition planning. Notably, she updated payroll and commission systems from outdated manual methods to accurate, trackable digital platforms and restructured 401k offerings for better employee outcomes. Her efforts didn’t just improve reporting—they made life better for employees.
Amy’s work at Phoenix Franchise Brands involved financially governing 12 separate LLCs, each with unique accounting challenges and operational goals. She created and executed procurement strategies, refined chart-of-accounts structures, and ensured financial data accuracy across entities. Her ability to develop policies while maintaining compliance and transparency proved critical to the organization’s growth and financial health.
Beyond her corporate contributions, Amy has always maintained a personal commitment to helping smaller, community-based organizations. She’s consulted for doctor’s offices and small businesses that couldn’t afford full-time finance staff, stepping in to provide expertise that gave these businesses the confidence and clarity they needed to grow. This hands-on, relationship-driven style has been a hallmark of Amy’s consulting ethos: keep it personal, keep it practical, and keep it honest.
In 2025, Amy formalized her consulting into her own business—Running Amok Bookkeeping & Consulting. Her firm provides bookkeeping and financial consulting for small businesses that need high-quality expertise without a full-time hire. Although she doesn’t plan to scale the business large, she enjoys staying engaged and sees it as her way of continuing to contribute to the community while preparing for eventual retirement—though she admits she may never fully “retire” from the work she loves.
Throughout her career, Amy has cultivated a deep understanding of financial strategy, data analysis, corporate reporting, and process improvement. Her technical proficiency includes tools like NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, Acumatica, Sage, and Microsoft Office Suite, which she uses to bring precision and insight to financial operations. But beyond her tools, it’s her strategic lens and ethical grounding that make her a standout advisor to businesses.
Amy’s leadership style is collaborative, honest, and proactive. She’s held educational sessions for new business owners and served as a Girl Scout troop leader, bringing her natural teaching ability and leadership into the community. While she hasn’t yet served on formal boards, she is now seeking opportunities where she can lend her financial expertise to mission-driven organizations and growing companies—particularly those in the medical, IT, or manufacturing industries.
She believes that great financial leadership isn’t just about numbers—it’s about enabling smarter decisions, building strong teams, and contributing to a business’s overall vision. With over 20 years of experience, a broad sector background, and a consulting practice built on trust and results, Amy is poised to add value to any board or executive team seeking clarity, strategy, and accountability.
