Amr El-Bayoumi is a distinguished Senior International Corporate Transactions Attorney whose career spans more than three decades of leading complex cross-border transactions, advising multinational corporations, and shaping strategic direction at the board level. From the earliest stages of his professional journey, Amr has demonstrated a rare balance of analytical rigor, cultural fluency, and deep commercial intuition—traits that have allowed him to excel across continents, industries, and high-stakes environments. His work reflects not only mastery of international law and corporate governance but also a profound commitment to business development, collaboration, mentorship, and global engagement.

Amr began his career as a Chemical Engineer after earning his B.S. from the University of Michigan, gaining valuable technical and operational experience in the automotive sector. Working within major manufacturing facilities such as General Motors and Toyota, he developed a strong foundation in systems thinking, quality control, and applied problem-solving. These early experiences shaped his ability to navigate highly technical environments and set the stage for his transition into international business and law. His pursuit of advanced studies in international business at UCLA, followed by a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, marked the beginning of a transformative professional path.

Upon entering the legal field, Amr quickly distinguished himself at Baker & McKenzie in Chicago, where he represented Fortune 500 companies in major international transactions. His work required fluency in foreign trade, cross-border regulatory frameworks, and high-level negotiation. This early exposure to global commerce helped Amr cultivate a deep understanding of international markets and positioned him as a trusted advisor to clients navigating complex multinational expansions. His time in Paris at White & Case further deepened his global perspective as he contributed to significant international arbitrations involving major government entities.

Amr’s move to Silicon Valley during the booming era of technological expansion presented an opportunity to apply his legal, business and engineering expertise to the technology and intellectual property landscape. As an attorney with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, he advised emerging startups and established industry leaders—such as Cisco, Oracle, Yahoo!, and Genentech—on technology licensing, product development, and corporate structuring. His ability to bridge technical understanding with legal strategy made him a standout counselor in the fast-evolving world of digital innovation and IP-driven business models.

His leadership trajectory expanded further when he transitioned into senior in-house roles, most notably as General Counsel for Iridium Middle East in Dubai, where he supported the development of a state-of-the-art global satellite telecommunications network. His role required navigating emerging markets, complex licensing structures, and strategic partnerships across the Arab world, North Africa, and Central Asia. As an Executive Management Team member, he contributed to long-term organizational strategy while aligning legal frameworks with technical, commercial, and operational imperatives.

Amr later served as Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel for Orascom Telecom. Based in Cairo and Paris, Amr guided the company through transformative growth, facilitating the acquisition and financing of mobile operations across the Middle East, Africa, and the Indian subcontinent. His oversight of transactions totaling approximately USD $4 billion, coupled with his responsibilities as Board Secretary and Executive Committee Member, positioned him at the heart of one of the region’s most dynamic telecommunications success stories. He played a pivotal role in regulatory management, investor relations, and compliance across multiple stock exchanges.

His experience continued to broaden as Regional Counsel for Japan Tobacco International in London, where he managed legal affairs for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. Overseeing a multinational legal team, Amr provided governance oversight, dispute resolution guidance, compliance leadership, and strategic counsel to senior executives across diverse markets. His work at JTI underscored his ability to manage multinational legal ecosystems while maintaining integrity, operational excellence, and cross-functional unity.

As an independent Senior International Transactions Attorney since 2012, Amr has continued to advise corporations and private enterprises on high-value transactions, M&A activities, intellectual property matters, regulatory compliance, and complex commercial negotiations.

In addition to substantial transactional experience,  his arbitration experience is extensive, including lead roles in International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) cases totaling over USD $3 billion and advisory responsibilities for government clients in multi-million-dollar cross-border disputes. His work reflects a deep understanding of international commercial law and a commitment to advancing principled, strategic outcomes in every engagement.

Across his career, Amr has remained deeply committed to mentorship, ethical leadership, and building bridges among cultures, industries, and disciplines. Fluent in English and Arabic and proficient in French, he has worked extensively across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. He thrives in environments that require diplomacy, high-level negotiation, and meaningful stakeholder engagement. His passions beyond the boardroom—acting, filmmaking, photography, and youth mentoring—reflect a creative, grounded, and multidimensional approach to life and leadership.

Today, Amr continues to serve global organizations seeking visionary oversight, international expertise, and a steady hand in navigating expansion, governance, and complex transactions.
