    Adrian Solis is a distinguished executive with over 20 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, specializing in medical devices, electronics, and plastics.     Currently serving as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Abbott, Adrian has been instrumental in transforming manufacturing operations since August 2022. In this role, he oversees a diverse team responsible for engineering, equipment management, line support, improvement projects, and capital planning. His leadership has been pivotal in ensuring the smooth execution of production line transfers, from initial product design through to successful production startups.

    Before his current position, Adrian was the Operations Manager at Abbott, where he led production activities across Costa Rica from September 2017 to August 2022. In this capacity, he managed a team of approximately 800 employees, including production supervisors and engineers. His focus was on establishing robust production systems, maintaining GMP standards, enforcing quality controls, and driving process improvements. His tenure was marked by a notable enhancement in productivity and quality, achieved through strategic process improvements and a dedication to talent development.

    Adrian’s journey at Abbott began as a Manufacturing Section Leader from April 2016 to September 2017, where he spearheaded initiatives to meet quality, time management, staffing, and safety goals. His proactive approach to process improvement and his ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement significantly elevated team productivity and compliance with regulatory requirements.

    Prior to Abbott, Adrian made significant contributions at St. Jude Medical, where he worked as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer from September 2013 to April 2016. One of his most notable achievements was leading the startup and ramp-up of the first product transfer to the Costa Rica facility. This complex project involved transferring all operations functions, including materials planning, system setup, equipment validation, and process validation. Adrian’s expertise ensured the successful integration of these operations and sustained improvements.

    Adrian’s professional foundation was built at C&K and Prodex, where he honed his skills in manufacturing engineering, quality control, and process improvement. At C&K, he led lean projects and process improvements for military and automotive components, while at Prodex, he managed comprehensive quality control activities and the ISO-9001 Quality System.

    Adrian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Production Industrial Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica and an MBA in Industrial Management from the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. He is also a certified specialist in Lean Manufacturing and has completed the English Now program.

    His professional skills are complemented by a range of certifications, including “Building Trust” and “Be the Manager People Won’t Leave,” demonstrating his commitment to leadership and team development. Adrian is also fluent in Spanish and has engaged with international markets, including Costa Rica and Latin America.

    Outside of his professional life, Adrian is passionate about sports, including soccer, cycling, and swimming. He values family time and is dedicated to continuous self-improvement and learning.
