William Lloyd, DBA, MBA, CPA, CGMA, is a seasoned finance executive, accounting professional, educator, advisor, and business leader whose career spans more than four decades across public accounting, banking, financial services, corporate finance, wealth management, and higher education. Throughout his professional journey, he has built a reputation for bringing clarity to complex financial matters, strengthening internal controls, improving strategic reporting, and helping organizations and individuals make more informed financial decisions. His ability to connect technical accounting expertise with practical business judgment has made him an effective leader in both corporate and academic environments.
William began his career in public accounting, where he developed the technical foundation that would shape his approach to financial leadership. As a junior accountant with Olmes & Dickson and later as a senior auditor with BDO Seidman, he performed audits, tax work, compilations, and financial statement preparation for a diverse range of clients. These early roles gave him extensive exposure to generally accepted accounting principles, regulatory requirements, risk assessment, and the importance of strong financial controls. They also reinforced a professional philosophy centered on accuracy, accountability, and disciplined decision-making.
His career progressed into increasingly strategic corporate roles with BellSouth Enterprises and Bank of America. At BellSouth, William managed accounting functions for corporate entities and subsidiaries, broadening his understanding of large organizational structures and financial operations. At Bank of America, he served in senior accounting and financial analysis positions, including Assistant Vice President, where he was responsible for financial activities supporting a $71 million division. His work included annual budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, management reporting, capital investment evaluation, and the implementation of unit cost and productivity measurement systems.
William’s banking experience also deepened his expertise in financial reporting and regulatory compliance. He prepared financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements, supported 10-K and 10-Q filings, and evaluated the reporting implications of emerging accounting standards. This combination of accounting rigor and business analysis helped establish his strength as a financial strategist who understands not only how financial information is produced, but also how it should be interpreted and used to guide organizational performance.
Building on his corporate experience, William moved into financial services with Prudential, where his responsibilities expanded beyond accounting into client advisory, sales leadership, professional development, and wealth management. He advised individuals and businesses on financial security, investment, insurance, and wealth-building strategies before advancing into management roles. As a learning and development manager, he implemented training initiatives for approximately 75 professionals, and as a sales manager, he recruited, trained, and developed a team of 15 financial services representatives. These roles strengthened his ability to communicate complex financial concepts in practical, accessible ways while developing high-performing teams.
Entrepreneurship has also been a defining component of William’s career. As President of W.H. Lloyd, CPA, CFP®, LLC, he built and managed a financial planning and accounting practice that provided tax planning, advisory, consulting, accounting, and financial strategy services. In addition to serving clients, he recruited and developed personnel across accounting, tax, and support functions. Today, as President of The Lloyd Financial Group, LLC, William continues to provide CFO advisory services, financial strategy, and wealth-building guidance designed to help individuals and businesses strengthen their financial foundations and pursue long-term growth.
In parallel with his corporate and entrepreneurial work, William has devoted a significant portion of his career to higher education. For two decades, he served in accounting and finance faculty and leadership roles at Lock Haven University and Commonwealth University, including serving as department chair for Business and Computer Science. He taught courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, cost accounting, and related disciplines while mentoring students preparing for careers in finance and accounting. His academic leadership also included curriculum development, faculty evaluation, departmental strategy, university governance, and accreditation-related responsibilities.
William’s academic credentials reflect the same commitment to continuous learning that he has encouraged in others. He earned a Doctor of Business Administration in Accounting from Argosy University, with research focused on CPA perceptions of fair value accounting, a Master of Business Administration with a finance emphasis from Kennesaw State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Economics from Grove City College. He also holds active CPA and CGMA credentials and has maintained extensive knowledge across financial reporting, cost accounting, tax strategy, corporate finance, internal controls, wealth management, and strategic planning.
Thought leadership and communication remain important extensions of William’s professional identity. He has written on topics spanning finance, taxation, accounting, motivation, faith, and public affairs, and he continues to write regularly as an avid reader and lifelong learner. Comfortable speaking to audiences ranging from students and smaller professional groups to larger gatherings, William combines an educator’s ability to explain with an executive’s practical perspective. His talent for translating technical financial material into understandable and actionable insights enhances his effectiveness as an advisor, educator, and prospective board contributor.
At this stage of his career, William is focused on putting more than four decades of accumulated knowledge to work for organizations that can benefit from experienced financial oversight and thoughtful strategic guidance. He is particularly interested in manufacturing, banking, financial services, cost accounting, and related industries, while remaining open to organizations across different stages and sizes. His background allows him to contribute from multiple perspectives—as an accountant who understands controls, an executive who understands performance, an entrepreneur who understands ownership, and an educator who understands how to develop people and communicate complex ideas.
For board and advisory organizations, William offers a particularly valuable financial lens. He can help leadership teams examine the integrity of reporting systems, understand cost structures, evaluate financial performance, strengthen internal controls, consider capital allocation decisions, and connect financial results with broader strategic objectives. Just as importantly, his extensive teaching and mentoring experience has cultivated a collaborative approach to leadership: one focused not simply on identifying issues, but on helping others understand them well enough to make stronger decisions.
William’s career ultimately reflects the intersection of financial discipline, education, entrepreneurship, and service. Whether working inside a major financial institution, advising clients through his own practice, developing professionals, teaching future business leaders, or providing CFO-level guidance, he has consistently sought to make financial knowledge useful and actionable. Board service represents a natural continuation of that journey—an opportunity to share decades of experience while helping organizations build stronger financial foundations, improve governance, and make decisions capable of producing sustainable long-term value.
