“Day by day with intention—guided by faith, committed to family, and dedicated to creating lasting value.”

Tom Lloyd is an accomplished global energy executive, commercial strategist, and purpose-driven leader with more than 30 years of experience building high-performing organizations, negotiating complex international transactions, and leading transformational initiatives across the energy sector. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to unite commercial insight, operational excellence, and relationship-centered leadership to deliver exceptional business results. From renewable energy development and global oil marketing to nonprofit leadership and faith-based community service, Tom has cultivated a career defined by integrity, strategic thinking, and an unwavering commitment to serving both organizations and people.

Currently serving as Chief Commercial Officer and founding executive of Solea Power Corp, Tom is helping shape the future of renewable energy by leading the commercial development of utility-scale solar projects throughout the United States. In this role, he has been instrumental in establishing the company’s strategic direction, identifying and securing high-value development opportunities, cultivating relationships with investors and strategic buyers, and overseeing commercial negotiations that position Solea for long-term success. His customer-centric philosophy focuses on delivering reliable, affordable, domestically produced clean energy while creating meaningful value for shareholders, local communities, and industry partners alike. His work reflects a forward-thinking approach that balances sustainability with sound commercial execution.

Prior to entering the renewable energy industry, Tom built an exceptional reputation during more than two decades in global oil and gas leadership. As Director of Global Marketing and Midstream for Marathon Oil Corporation, he led a multidisciplinary team responsible for worldwide marketing, transportation, and commercial optimization of the company’s crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids production. Charged with maximizing netback value while ensuring reliable market access, he developed commercial strategies that aligned operational performance with corporate objectives. Under his leadership, the organization strengthened its market position through disciplined commercial execution, strategic transportation planning, and collaborative leadership across business units.

Tom previously spent over sixteen years with Hess Corporation, where he held a series of progressively senior leadership positions spanning international crude oil marketing, commercial development, transportation strategy, treasury management, mergers and acquisitions, retail marketing, and upstream operations. His career with Hess exposed him to virtually every aspect of the global energy value chain, allowing him to develop expertise that extends well beyond commercial negotiations. Working throughout North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, he successfully managed international marketing operations, developed transportation infrastructure strategies, optimized global logistics, and supported major corporate growth initiatives. His ability to integrate financial, operational, and commercial perspectives made him a trusted advisor to executive leadership during periods of significant industry evolution.

Among Tom’s most notable accomplishments is his leadership in negotiating multi-billion-dollar transportation and infrastructure agreements that significantly enhanced market access while minimizing long-term commercial obligations. He successfully negotiated international crude oil sales agreements representing more than 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day across Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. Through strategic renegotiation of transportation contracts across the Bakken, Permian, Eagle Ford, and Oklahoma basins, he helped reduce transportation costs by approximately $75 million annually. These achievements demonstrate his ability to generate measurable shareholder value through disciplined negotiation, thoughtful risk management, and innovative commercial strategy.

Tom’s commercial expertise is strengthened by a strong financial foundation established early in his career. During his MBA from Columbia Business School, he joined Credit Suisse First Boston, where he worked in Energy Mergers and Acquisitions, supporting complex transactions within the global energy sector. Prior to business school, he worked at ABN AMRO in commercial banking and equity research, analyzing major European energy companies including Repsol, Gas Natural, and Cepsa. This combination of investment banking, corporate finance, equity research, and operational leadership provides him with a uniquely comprehensive understanding of how strategic decisions create enterprise value from both investor and operator perspectives.

Equally important to Tom’s professional accomplishments is his lifelong commitment to servant leadership and community engagement. Since 2020, he has served as Director of Development for Paradisus Dei, a national Catholic ministry focused on strengthening marriages, families, and parish communities. In this capacity, he oversees fundraising strategy, donor development, organizational growth initiatives, and strategic planning while working closely with executive leadership to communicate the organization’s mission and long-term vision. Alongside his wife, he serves as a commissioned Missionary to the Family, mentoring couples, leading marriage enrichment programs, and speaking to students and families about the importance, beauty, and strength of lifelong relationships.

Tom’s commitment to service extends well beyond his professional responsibilities. He serves as an Acolyte, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and marriage mentor at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Houston, while also volunteering in educational and community organizations. His governance experience includes service on the Board of The Regis School of the Sacred Heart and Camp Mowglis, along with leadership roles supporting Catholic education and family ministry. These experiences have strengthened his appreciation for collaborative leadership, responsible governance, and mission-driven decision-making—qualities that naturally translate into effective board service.

International business has been a defining feature of Tom’s career. Having negotiated commercial agreements and built strategic relationships throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, he possesses a sophisticated understanding of global markets and multicultural leadership. His work has taken him across Spain, Scotland, the North Sea, West Africa, Southeast Asia, and numerous international energy markets, providing firsthand experience navigating complex geopolitical, regulatory, and commercial environments. Fluent in Spanish and experienced working across diverse cultures, he brings valuable global perspective to organizations seeking international growth or expanded strategic partnerships.

Tom earned both his Bachelor of Arts in History and his Master of Business Administration in International Business from Columbia University. During his undergraduate years, he competed as a four-year member of Columbia’s rowing program while participating in musical theater and collegiate a cappella, experiences that reinforced the discipline, resilience, collaboration, and leadership that continue to define his executive career. His academic background, combined with decades of real-world executive experience, has enabled him to successfully bridge analytical thinking with practical leadership.

Today, Tom is actively pursuing corporate and advisory board opportunities because he believes the most meaningful stage of leadership is one focused on giving back. He is passionate about mentoring executive teams, helping organizations navigate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, and providing strategic guidance rooted in both commercial excellence and sound judgment. His combination of global executive leadership, renewable energy expertise, financial acumen, governance experience, and deeply held personal values makes him an exceptional candidate for organizations seeking thoughtful, balanced, and forward-looking board leadership.
