Timothy K. Marvel is a dynamic and globally experienced business leader whose career spans more than three decades across the energy, technology, and industrial sectors. Known for his ability to transform organizations, commercialize groundbreaking technologies, and accelerate financial performance, he has built a reputation as an executive who consistently delivers measurable results. His work reflects a rare synthesis of deep engineering expertise, economic insight, and strategic leadership—qualities that have earned him recognition in both public and private company environments.

Throughout his career, Tim has demonstrated a unique talent for identifying untapped market opportunities and developing the technologies, products, and organizational structures needed to capture them. His leadership has been instrumental in repositioning companies from regional or legacy-focused operations into high-growth, innovation-driven enterprises. With a record of leading four P&Ls and guiding companies through periods of expansion, restructuring, and market transition, he has become known as an executive who not only creates vision but operationalizes it with precision.

Tim currently serves as Vice President of Business Development and Technology for SEF Energy, a private equity–backed organization where he plays a central role in driving revenue growth, building competitive differentiation, and expanding national and international market presence. In this capacity, he leads business development, engineering, data analytics, and marketing, ensuring that product strategies align both investor goals and customer demands. His leadership contributed to a sixfold increase in company revenue, driven by the commercialization of disruptive technologies and the strategic integration of acquisitions.

Before joining SEF Energy, Tim was Vice President and General Manager of Production Optimization at Dover Energy Automation, where he united three previously separate companies into one cohesive and profitable business group. His restructuring efforts—spanning organizational design, product integration, and new commercial models—resulted in a return to profitability and notable revenue growth despite challenging market conditions. This role highlighted his exceptional ability to harmonize disparate cultures, streamline operations, and create unified value propositions for customers around the world.

As Managing Director of Alcoa Oil & Gas, Tim led the business through product commercialization, brand development, global contracting, and strategic repositioning. His work included negotiating complex international agreements, resolving legacy constraints, and launching both drilling and subsea technologies into key markets. His leadership strengthened the company’s competitive standing and expanded its influence in the global oil and gas ecosystem.

Tim’s foundation as a leader was shaped during nearly 20 years with Baker Hughes, where he advanced through roles in engineering, product development, research, international business management, marketing, and corporate strategy. His contributions included the launch of multiple product lines that generated more than $100 million in new revenue, the execution of large-scale engineering transformation initiatives, and leadership of major strategic planning efforts for multi-billion-dollar business units. His time in Perth, Australia—where he led the Australasia district—further showcased his international acumen, turning around an underperforming region and delivering record growth in revenue, margin, and profitability.

A prolific innovator, Tim holds more than 20 issued patents and has authored or co-authored multiple technical publications. His work has been featured by leading industry organizations including SPE, AADE, and major energy magazines. His innovations have advanced drilling, completions, and automation practices, influencing how operators approach efficiency, safety, and continuous operations in the modern energy landscape.

Tim’s leadership philosophy centers on empowering people, enabling cross-functional collaboration, enhancing productivity, and driving organizations toward clarity of purpose. He takes pride in developing high-performing teams and coaching emerging leaders, believing that culture and capability expansion are as vital as technology itself. Whether guiding engineering teams, integrating companies, or advising executives, he is recognized for his ability to see the entirety of a business system—market dynamics, operational constraints, financial levers, and human behaviors—and align them toward sustainable outcomes.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Tim has been deeply involved in international work across Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, South America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe. This exposure has shaped his global perspective and strengthened his capacity to navigate cultural, regulatory, and market complexities with nuance and respect. He has also served on nonprofit boards including the YMCA of South Montgomery County and Africa New Life Ministries, reflecting his commitment to service, mentorship, and community impact.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Missouri. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas and a Six Sigma Black Belt. His additional studies at Caltech and in management courses further reinforce the analytical and strategic foundation that guides his executive decision-making.
