“Turning Operational Complexity into Sustainable Growth—One Strategy at a Time”
Stuart R. Werner is a results-driven executive whose distinguished career spans more than four decades across the HVAC, energy, building products, and B2B distribution sectors. Recognized for his ability to revitalize underperforming operations and engineer strategic growth in highly competitive markets, Stuart brings a rare blend of technical depth, business insight, and people-centered leadership to every role he undertakes. His track record of success is a reflection of both his business acumen and his deeply held belief in the power of vision, execution, and team alignment.
Stuart’s career began at Trane in San Antonio, where he launched into the industry as a Sales Engineer and Account Executive. Over the course of 13 years, he developed an unparalleled understanding of HVAC technologies and client service, laying the foundation for an ascension through the company’s ranks. His journey from individual contributor to senior executive is marked by steady, measurable contributions in revenue growth, market expansion, and operational excellence.
As Sales Manager at Trane in the mid-1990s, Stuart took on responsibility for a 23-member team and a $30 million sales target that grew each year due to our high performance as a District. Under his leadership, the business unit delivered a staggering 300% increase in building automation system revenues over three years, made possible through a thoughtful restructure of district sales and operations. This success, rooted in data-driven strategy and frontline coaching, set the tone for his next role as Regional Sales Manager, where he would oversee $527 million in revenue across twelve districts.
During his tenure as Regional Sales Manager, Stuart demonstrated his prowess in strategic market development. He helped launch a branded product developed and manufactured for us that achieved over $400 million domestically in new revenue and rose to second place in national market share within two years. His ability to drive results across diverse geographies through collaboration and innovation established him as a standout leader within the organization. Stuart’s districts consistently ranked in the top 25% of North America for pricing, volume, and share performance.
Elevated to District Manager and later District General Manager, Stuart assumed P&L accountability for Trane’s South Texas operations. Here, he managed more than 215 associates across multiple functions and sites, delivering double-digit operating income increases and successfully executing four major facility moves and expansions under budget. His emphasis on safety, accountability, and high engagement resulted in zero lost workdays across more than a million labor-hours and exceptional employee satisfaction scores. Perhaps most impressively, he led a market share gain of 33% within a single year by building strategic alliances with key designers and specifiers.
In the early 2010s, Stuart transitioned to broader roles outside of Trane, including Vice President Business Development at Virtual Builders Exchange and Commercial Sales Manager at Carrier Enterprise. In these capacities, he applied his deep industry knowledge to fast-moving market opportunities, helping launch digital platforms and directing $160 million in sales across 12 South Texas locations. His commitment to customer success and margin performance remained unwavering through each transition.
Stuart’s leadership aptitude was again tested and proven when he took on the role of VP and General Manager at Texas Specialty Products and Air Quality Distributors. In this pivotal role, he executed a full organizational turnaround with complete P&L responsibility. By restructuring operations, establishing a new sales compensation model, and cultivating vital manufacturer relationships, Stuart not only stabilized the business but also created a pathway for long-term growth. His strategic insight also enabled the successful launch of Air Quality Distributors, expanding distribution of IAQ products nationally.
In 2016, Stuart joined Daikin North America as Vice President of Technical Services, where he currently leads a continent-spanning team of over 200 professionals across service, field support, product expertise, and training functions. He plays a crucial role in quality and customer experience for commercial and residential products manufactured at multiple global facilities and distributed throughout North America. His leadership supports Daikin’s double-digit sales growth, ensuring operational alignment, workforce readiness, and customer satisfaction across all markets.
Stuart’s educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an MBA with Distinction from the University of the Incarnate Word. He complements his formal education with a long list of professional certifications and leadership training, including Six Sigma Green Belt certification, the Trane Graduate Training Program, and executive education from the Center for Creative Leadership. His passion for continuous improvement is not only professional but personal—he holds an FAA private pilot’s license and is an avid volunteer in safety education and youth development.
His influence extends into industry and community service. Stuart has served in leadership roles with the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Green Buildings Council, and the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA). His civic contributions include roles with the Boy Scouts of America and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, underscoring a lifelong commitment to mentorship and stewardship. He also served on the City of Hollywood Park’s Economic Board bringing revenue to the city not seen before.
Stuart held Board of Goverenor leadership positions at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio while he was a member there for 25 years.
