Steve Sadoski is a seasoned financial services executive whose career has been defined by disciplined leadership, regulatory expertise, thoughtful governance, and a commitment to protecting the interests of investors and organizations alike. With approximately three decades of professional experience spanning investment management, securities regulation, public accounting, auditing, risk management, and board communications, Steve brings an unusually broad perspective to complex financial and operational matters. His career has placed him at the intersection of regulation, governance, financial reporting, risk, and investment operations, enabling him to understand challenges from the perspectives of regulators, auditors, investment managers, executives, and boards. Throughout that journey, he has developed a leadership philosophy grounded in preparation, accountability, sound judgment, and the belief that diverse perspectives lead to stronger organizational decisions.
Steve currently serves as Vice President and Assistant Treasurer with Natixis Investment Managers, where he has held significant responsibilities supporting investment funds and their governance structures. His work includes preparing and presenting materials to audit committees and Boards of Trustees concerning regulatory developments, valuation, liquidity, operations, and other matters affecting investment funds. He has also played an important role in interpreting regulatory and disclosure developments from the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Financial Accounting Standards Board. By translating highly technical requirements into practical considerations for executives, committees, and boards, Steve has become accustomed to operating in environments where accuracy, transparency, and sound communication are essential.
His responsibilities at Natixis extend deeply into valuation, liquidity, operational oversight, policies, procedures, and risk management. Steve has worked with affiliated investment advisers on significant fair-value matters, collaborated with trading and operations professionals on processes and controls, and facilitated valuation reporting to investment committees and boards. As a fund liquidity administrator, he has overseen recurring liquidity materials and data, reviewed policies and procedures, and participated in vendor oversight. His broader operational responsibilities have included new fund and instrument onboarding, complex securities and transactions, fund expenses and distributions, and compliance with applicable SEC rules and requirements. This combination of governance and hands-on operational experience allows Steve to examine issues not simply as isolated technical matters, but as interconnected components of an organization’s broader risk and control environment.
Before joining Natixis, Steve served as Deputy Treasurer for Fixed Income and Asset Allocation Funds at Fidelity Investments. In that position, he prepared and presented board communications addressing audit service plans, accounting policies, operational matters, NAV errors, non-audit services, and audit committee education. He also interpreted accounting, auditing, and regulatory developments involving the SEC, FASB, and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. His responsibilities required collaboration with compliance, corporate audit, trading operations, and other stakeholders, particularly when investigating and remediating accounting or operational issues. The role strengthened his ability to bring together technical knowledge, business judgment, and clear executive communication when organizations face complicated questions with governance implications.
A particularly distinctive chapter of Steve’s career was his service with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as Assistant Chief Accountant in the Division of Investment Management. In that role, he reviewed proposals from accounting and auditing standard setters and interpreted requirements involving investment-company financial statements, registration statements, valuation, custody, money market funds, independence, consolidation, and other areas affecting regulated investment organizations. He also served as an expert resource regarding the Commission’s Risk/Return XBRL requirements and collaborated with SEC colleagues on matters involving interactive data. This experience provided Steve with a regulator’s perspective on the intent, interpretation, and practical consequences of financial reporting and securities requirements—perspective that has remained valuable throughout his subsequent private-sector leadership.
Steve’s SEC responsibilities also exposed him to issues involving examination and enforcement functions, including securities lending, NAV errors, money market funds, and investment valuation. Equally important, the role reinforced his capabilities as an educator and public communicator. He participated in speaking opportunities at Investment Company Institute tax and accounting conferences, presented at industry accounting and treasurer meetings, and participated in AICPA expert-panel discussions. These experiences sharpened his ability to explain highly technical subjects to audiences with different levels of familiarity, a capability that translates directly to boardrooms where directors must often evaluate complex regulatory, financial, operational, and risk information efficiently.
Steve began building the foundation for this expertise during more than a decade with Deloitte & Touche, where he progressed to Senior Manager in the Audit Practice. He supervised and managed investment-company audits for major mutual fund advisers in the Boston market and contributed to Deloitte’s annual Fair Value Survey for investment managers. He was also actively involved in professional training at both local and national levels and gained additional exposure through attestation work involving investment advisers, retail organizations, healthcare entities, and pension organizations. His years in public accounting instilled a rigorous approach to evidence, controls, financial reporting, risk assessment, and professional skepticism while giving him early experience managing teams and client relationships in demanding environments.
Steve’s academic background further complements his professional experience. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University before completing both a Master of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration at Northeastern University. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts from 1999 through 2015 and served as a member of the AICPA Investment Company Expert Panel from 2013 through 2015. Together, these credentials reflect the combination of economic perspective, accounting discipline, business education, and specialized investment-industry knowledge that has characterized his career.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Steve has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community service and nonprofit leadership. He served for many years with the Salem Food Pantry, including as Treasurer and as a member of its Board of Directors, contributing his financial and governance experience to an organization serving the community. He has also been involved with St. John’s the Evangelist Parish as a lector and eucharistic minister. His personal interests include athletics and officiating, and he has served as a Massachusetts-certified high school baseball umpire and football official. He also serves as Vice President of the Northshore Umpire Board, extending his leadership experience into an environment that depends upon fairness, consistency, judgment, communication, and respect for established standards.
Those experiences outside the corporate setting reveal an important dimension of Steve’s leadership philosophy. Whether evaluating a regulatory requirement, communicating with a board, supporting a nonprofit organization, or officiating an athletic competition, he values preparation, consistency, responsibility, and service. His community involvement demonstrates that leadership is not limited to a professional title; it also involves contributing time and expertise where they can create meaningful value. This service-oriented outlook complements a career spent helping organizations navigate responsibilities that require both technical precision and sound judgment.
As Steve considers additional board and advisory opportunities, he is particularly interested in financial services, manufacturing, and athletic sports organizations while remaining open to opportunities across other industries and organizations of varying sizes. He views board service as an opportunity to apply the knowledge accumulated across auditing, regulation, investment management, governance, risk, and operations to a wider range of organizational challenges. His background allows him to approach a board discussion through several lenses simultaneously: the regulator asking whether requirements have been properly interpreted, the auditor examining evidence and controls, the executive considering implementation, and the governance professional evaluating what directors need to understand before making an informed decision.
Steve’s value as a prospective board or advisory leader ultimately rests in the breadth of perspective he has accumulated throughout his career. Few professional paths provide direct experience within a global accounting firm, a federal securities regulator, and major investment-management organizations while also encompassing nonprofit governance and community leadership. Steve brings that combination together with expertise in risk, regulatory requirements, auditing, financial reporting, valuation, policies and procedures, management, internal controls, and executive communications. He is motivated to contribute this experience beyond his existing responsibilities, helping boards broaden their perspective, ask more informed questions, recognize risks earlier, and approach complex decisions with greater clarity.
