    From 1986 until his retirement in 2017, Steve served as a partner at RSM US LLP, where he played a pivotal role in providing assurance services, financial statement audits, regulatory compliance, and strategic business consulting. His dedication to understanding the unique needs of each client made him a trusted advisor in areas such as tax strategies, employee benefits planning, financial analysis, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

    After his retirement from his Partner role in 2017,  Steve continued to share his expertise in the business transition space in a part-time capacity with the firm, serving as a Manager in the Business & Transition Advisory Services (BTAS) group from 2017 to 2024. This division was formed to help business owners objectively assess their options, weighing competing and often conflicting choices, with the goal of ensuring a smooth and strategic exit or succession. Steve’s leadership in BTAS allowed him to assist several clients in navigating some of the most important decisions of their careers, leveraging his extensive knowledge of business operations, organizational behavior, leadership, and change management.

    Steve is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting from Western Illinois University, where he was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2023. He has also completed the RSM CFO Program, conducted in partnership with the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. This program was designed to train participants to advise CEOs and CFOs on a range of essential business areas, including strategy, operations, marketing, and leadership, which further enhanced Steve’s ability to lead complex financial transitions.

    Steve’s professional accomplishments are complemented by his longstanding commitment to community engagement. He has served as a board member and past chair for Gilda’s Club Quad Cities, an organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families. In addition, he has served as board chair for Renew Moline, an economic empowerment initiative in his local community. From 2002 to 2011, Steve was a volunteer chairman and board member for the John Deere Classic, where he helped ensure the success of the PGA Tour event in the Quad Cities. These leadership roles have allowed Steve to apply his business acumen to broader community goals, focusing on health, economic development, and arts and culture.

    Throughout his career, Steve’s areas of expertise have included SEC filings, financial reporting, internal controls, financial analysis, auditing, tax planning, and strategic management. His colleagues at RSM US LLP have consistently endorsed his skills in these areas, as well as his leadership abilities. In total, Steve’s career is marked by his unwavering dedication to helping businesses grow, transition, and succeed, as well as his passion for sharing his extensive knowledge with others.

    Since retiring from RSM in mid-2024, Steve has remained committed to utilizing his skills and experience to help organizations navigate their most pressing challenges.
