Stacy Steimel is a seasoned investment professional and corporate director with over 40 years experience in emerging markets, capital markets, and asset management. Based in Texas after more than 25 years in Latin America, Stacy’s career has been defined by her strategic leadership, innovation and ability to unlock value in challenging economic environments. She has worked across multiple industries, including oil and gas, listed equities, natural resources, telecommunications, and clean energy, with a particular focus on Latin American markets. Fluent in both English and Spanish and proficient in Portuguese, Stacy’s bicultural background has given her a unique edge in managing cross-border operations and building strategic partnerships in diverse regions.
Most recently, Stacy served as the Shareholder Value Director at GeoPark, a Latin American oil and gas company listed on the NYSE, where she played a critical role in revamping the investor relations strategy. Under her leadership, GeoPark improved its market liquidity by 2.5 times and the stock price grew more than five times. She spearheaded the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, positioning GeoPark as one of the top-performing E&P companies listed on the NYSE between 2017 and 2019. Stacy’s forward-thinking approach led to the successful execution of two bond offerings, a Dutch Auction in 2024 to improve liquidity, and a dividend and buyback strategy that enhanced investor confidence.
Prior to GeoPark, Stacy was the CEO and Portfolio Manager at PineBridge Investments Latin America, where she grew the firm’s assets under management ninefold and developed award-winning equity funds. Her innovative leadership expanded the PineBridge footprint, leading to the successful listing of Latin America’s first Taiwan-listed fund and creating small and mid-cap equity funds that capitalized on regional economic growth. Stacy also held several senior roles in the US Treasury Department and Inter-American Development Bank.
Stacy’s academic credentials are equally impressive. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, where her thesis focused on debt financing in Argentina and Venezuela. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Spanish Literature from the College of William & Mary. In addition to her degrees, Stacy has completed certifications in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from Cambridge University and holds an Institute of Directors Certificate in Company Direction.
Stacy served on the UK Board of Directors for GeoPark, overseeing corporate governance and financial operations of that entity. She is a NYSE Board-ready candidate and is affiliated with 50/50 Women on Boards. Further, Stacy has been an angel investor and mentor with Chile Global Angels, supporting early-stage startups in Latin America.
