Sean Wolpin: Transforming People, Work, and Organizations for What Comes Next

Published on:

Sean Wolpin is an organizational and human capital executive, advisor, and operator with more than two decades of experience helping companies scale, transform, and build the workforce capabilities required to execute their strategies. His career spans technology, consumer businesses, telecommunications, insurance, financial services, hospitality, and EV infrastructure, with particular depth in organizational design, talent strategy, workforce planning, compensation, HR operations, technology transformation, and operating-model change.

His work increasingly focuses on how artificial intelligence will change work, organizational capability, decision-making, leadership, and the role of human judgment. His perspective is grounded in years of building and operating the systems through which organizations hire, organize, develop, reward, and retain talent, combined with practical experience introducing AI and automation into those systems.

Sean is Founder and Principal Consultant of The Wolpin Consulting Group, where he advises organizations and executives navigating growth, organizational change, workforce transformation, and increasing technological complexity. His work includes workforce and organizational design, talent strategy, HR operating models, job architecture, compensation, workforce planning, HR technology, and AI-enabled transformation.

His approach often begins by challenging the definition of the problem itself. A recruiting problem may actually be a workforce-planning or job-design problem. A technology problem may expose unclear decision rights or broken processes. An AI initiative may create efficiency while weakening expertise, accountability, or the development of future leaders. Sean works with leadership teams to understand these interdependencies before determining where change can create meaningful value.

Before launching his consulting practice, Sean held senior Talent Operations leadership responsibilities at Prodege, a global consumer engagement, insights, and performance marketing organization. His work extended across talent acquisition, compensation, organizational design, workforce planning, HR operations, analytics, systems, and enterprise talent programs. He helped lead significant modernization of the company’s people infrastructure, including Workday HCM implementation, job architecture and career frameworks, compensation infrastructure, workforce analytics, and AI-supported HR processes.

Sean previously served as Head of People Operations at Chargie, an EV infrastructure technology company, where he led HR operations, recruiting, employee relations, benefits, payroll, compliance, performance management, development, and organizational infrastructure. He helped separate the company’s people infrastructure from its former parent organization, migrate HR and payroll systems, transition away from a PEO model, and establish more scalable operating practices.

At Iterable, Sean led global Talent Acquisition Operations, overseeing recruiting processes, programs, workflows, technology, and operational infrastructure in partnership with talent leadership.

At Stamps.com, his responsibilities expanded well beyond recruiting into compensation, organizational design, immigration, workforce analytics, compliance, process management, and talent technology as the organization grew into a larger international enterprise. His work helped build the scalable talent infrastructure required to support continued growth while improving operational discipline, workforce insight, and organizational effectiveness.

Across his career, Sean has worked in organizations ranging from high-growth technology businesses to large, complex enterprises. That breadth has shaped a systems-oriented view of organizational performance and a belief that many workforce challenges ultimately come back to questions of structure, capability, incentives, accountability, leadership, and how work itself is designed.

Technology has been a recurring component of Sean’s work, from enterprise HR systems and workforce analytics to process automation and AI. His current interest extends well beyond using AI to improve HR processes. He is increasingly focused on the organizational and governance questions created when AI begins performing work traditionally done by people.

Those questions include which decisions should remain human, where accountability resides when machines participate in decision-making, how organizations preserve institutional knowledge and professional judgment, and how career and leadership systems must evolve when technology begins performing work that once helped people develop expertise.

Sean also brings direct governance experience through nearly nine years of service as President of the Autumn Wood at Hunters Field Homeowners Association. He led the board in overseeing financial responsibilities, vendor relationships, governance matters, regulatory requirements, community affairs, and competing stakeholder interests. The experience provided direct exposure to fiduciary responsibility, collective decision-making, stakeholder management, and the distinction between governing an organization and operating one.

Sean has worked with organizations and teams across the United States and internationally, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Greece, the Philippines, and Malaysia. He earned a B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management from California Lutheran University.

Board Value Proposition

Sean brings particular value to boards where people, organization, technology, risk, and business execution intersect.

After more than two decades building and operating organizational systems, he brings a practitioner’s understanding of what happens when strategy reaches the workforce. His experience allows him to contribute to discussions involving workforce strategy, organizational design, leadership and succession, compensation, talent risk, technology transformation, organizational effectiveness, and the implications of AI for future workforce capability.

His emerging work around AI is particularly focused on questions that extend beyond technology implementation. As organizations automate more work, boards will increasingly need to consider what capabilities must remain inside the organization, where human judgment continues to matter, how expertise is developed and preserved, and how accountability changes when work and decisions are increasingly shared between people and machines.

Sean approaches these issues without assuming technology itself is the strategy. He brings a systems perspective, looking at how changes in technology affect roles, skills, leadership pipelines, incentives, decision rights, organizational structures, and ultimately the organization’s ability to execute.

His interest in board service reflects a natural progression in his career: moving from building and operating these systems to helping leadership teams think about them at a strategic and governance level.

Character:

Sean leads with curiosity, accountability, and practical judgment. He listens before prescribing, respects organizational context, and is willing to challenge assumptions constructively when the obvious answer may not address the underlying problem.

Knowledge:

Sean brings broad expertise across human capital, organizational design, workforce planning, talent acquisition, compensation, HR operations, HR technology, analytics, leadership development, and AI-enabled transformation. His experience across industries and organizational stages gives him a systems-level understanding of how people, technology, leadership, and operating models interact.

Strategic:

Sean approaches human capital as an enterprise issue rather than an isolated functional responsibility. He connects workforce decisions to growth, organizational effectiveness, risk, technology, succession, and long-term capability, with increasing focus on how AI may reshape roles, skills, decision rights, leadership pipelines, and operating models.

Communication:

Sean translates complex organizational issues into understandable business questions and helps create alignment across executive, operational, technical, and governance audiences. His style is direct, curious, and collaborative, with an emphasis on asking the questions necessary to understand a problem before advocating a solution.
