Scott D. Kent: Driving Growth, Innovation, and Value-Based Care Across Integrated Health Systems

    Published on:

Scott Kent is a nationally recognized healthcare executive and transformational leader with over 30 years of experience guiding some of the nation’s most complex healthcare systems through strategic change, payer reform, and performance optimization. With a distinguished record of driving growth and cost savings while enhancing patient outcomes, Scott is widely regarded for his ability to navigate regulatory landscapes, build cross-functional teams, and execute enterprise-level transformations that align clinical excellence with financial sustainability.

Most recently serving as senior vice president at Endeavor Health System, Illinois’ third-largest health network, Scott successfully integrated four legacy healthcare systems into a physician-led clinically integrated network (CIN). Overseeing a $2.5 billion medical spend, he architected and executed a value-based care strategy that partnered with payers and technology enablement firms to improve outcomes while establishing scalable infrastructures for population health. He led the creation of a 150+ member interdisciplinary team—including nurses, pharmacists, analysts, and IT professionals—to implement care model innovations such as home care programs, transitions of care, and post-acute coordination. These efforts directly contributed to reduced hospital readmissions, enhanced patient satisfaction, and improved care continuity.

Prior to Endeavor, Scott spent more than a decade at Advocate Health, where he held the role of vice president, managing over $4 billion in medical spend across Illinois and Wisconsin. Under his leadership, the organization realized $195 million in Medicare savings, generating $78 million in shared savings through the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP). Scott’s influence extended beyond internal operations; he was a recognized subject matter expert for Advocate’s ACO/CIN consulting division, helping client organizations develop governance, compliance, and care delivery frameworks that reflected best-in-class practices.

A consistent champion of innovation, Scott has led pioneering efforts in payer strategy and risk-based contracting for over 30 years. His strategic negotiations with national insurers helped establish high-value partnerships and transformative payment models. He is also an ardent promoter of AI technologies to enhance clinical documentation, personalized care plans, and boost patient engagement.

Scott’s expertise spans strategic planning, physician engagement, financial management, governance development, and technology integration. He is skilled at creating the operating models and governance structures that support integrated physician networks, value-based care, and accountable care organizations. His strategic foresight and operational discipline have made him a sought-after advisor for organizations seeking to transition to value-based care environments while sustaining strong market positioning.

Scott holds both a Master of Arts in Hospital and Health Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Iowa, and he has passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. His board and advisory roles include service with the World 50 Group Health System Accelerator, Lumeris, and the Ravenswood Health Care Foundation.

A dynamic speaker, Scott has presented at national healthcare forums including the HFMA and Chicago Health Executive Forum (“Achieving the Triple Aim: The Advantages of Value-Based Medicine”) and the AMGA Institute for Quality Leadership (“Creating Accountable Physician Leadership: Essential to the Successful ACO”).

Now retired from his executive career, Scott is actively seeking board and advisory opportunities to share his knowledge, mentor the next generation of healthcare leaders, and shape strategy for organizations committed to making healthcare more accessible, efficient, and value-driven. His lifelong commitment to patient-centered care, adaptive governance, and innovation at scale makes him a unique and impactful addition to any boardroom.
