    With over 45 years of experience in financial consulting, corporate development, strategic planning, governance and capital formation, Robert Wickey is a seasoned business leader with broad experience and expertise with small businesses in a variety of industries. For more than 30 years, as the managing director of Equinox Investment Partners LLC, a firm he founded in 1996, and predecessor firms Robert  provided investment counsel, strategic and operational management consulting, and corporate governance services to small and mid-sized businesses, helping them navigate significant financial challenges related to both organic and acquisition fueled growth. Throughout his career he has served on the board of directors of 22 for-profit and three nonprofit entities.

    Robert’s career spans various industries, with a primary focus on manufacturing and distribution enterprises and more recently affordable housing development, financing and management. In all of these situations he has leveraged his financial acumen and operational insights to streamline business processes, enhance financial performance, and assist with managing the inherent disturbances resulting from rapid growth. He has served in key financial leadership roles, including chief financial officer (CFO) for Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust, where he spearheaded a major financial and operational overhaul, implementing modern integrated property management and financial software, upgrading finance teams, and executing real estate transactions that strengthened the organization’s financial position.

    His extensive knowledge of corporate finance, investment banking, financial modeling, and due diligence has made him a trusted advisor in various business transformations. Robert has also held leadership positions in housing and nonprofit organizations, including Rhode Island Housing and the Corporation for Independent Living, where he played a pivotal role in securing financing for affordable housing developments, tax-exempt bond financing, and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs. His recent consulting assignment with the Housing Authority of the City of Sarasota further underscores his ability to structure and procure financing solutions for critical community development projects.

    Robert served on and in some cases chaired finance, audit, nominating, and executive committees of boards, contributing his expertise in risk assessment, corporate governance, and financial oversight. His extensive background in private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and valuation enables him to provide businesses with strategic direction, financial restructuring, and capital management solutions.

    Robert holds an MBA in finance from the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, magna cum laude, from Saint Anselm College. His analytical mindset, coupled with his ability to identify inefficiencies and implement high-impact financial strategies, has earned him a reputation as a problem solver and strategic thinker.

    Beyond his professional pursuits, Robert enjoys home remodeling (he just completed his second fixer-upper) and touring Connecticut’s back roads on his Harley. reflecting his hands-on approach to both personal and professional challenges.
