Randy Myers is a distinguished executive with over 50 years of comprehensive experience spanning the military, corporate finance, higher education, and the public sector. As a retired Navy Captain, Randy has demonstrated exceptional leadership in complex environments, holding command positions in naval intelligence and strategic operations. His career foundation, built on advanced principles of leadership, communication, and organizational behavior, has equipped him to guide institutions and teams through transformative changes. Today, Randy actively seeks board roles where he can leverage his extensive background in strategy and organizational development to support and mentor leadership teams.
Randy served 28 years in the U.S. Navy, earning three warfare designators. He excelled as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard Destroyers, as a Naval Flight Officer, and as Reserve Information Warfare Officer in critical areas such as strategic strike planning, cruise missile operations, and human intelligence. His tenure included high-stakes roles in commanding operational support units, strategic analysis, and commanding complex joint military intelligence teams. With over 300 successful carrier-based landings and combat experience aboard Destroyer tours, Randy exemplified dedication and resilience throughout his Navy service. One of his naval aviation experiences was highlighted in a section of The Tailhook Association Oral History Project of Naval Aviation. His military experience gave him the opportunity to refine discipline, resourcefulness, and motivational leadership.
Transitioning into the civilian sector, Randy earned and applied an earned MBA to notable organizations in finance and investment, including Charles Schwab and Paragon Wealth Management. As Director of Investor Service Centers at Schwab, he played a pivotal role in revolutionizing branch strategies, leading the fundamental shift from branches performing both sales and operations, to centralized operations and trading support in call centers. The shift allowed branches to focus on client-focused investment advice, a move that fueled Schwab’s rapid expansion. As a co-founder and partner at Paragon Wealth Management, a Registered Investment Advisor, he provided investment management for high-net-worth individuals, by pioneering the investment model that became the model for ETF’s. He is also a cofounder of Allegiance Technologies, a company that pioneered feedback management systems for increasing communication between customers and management. Their product was cited as a contributing factor in achieving the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Healthcare in 2004 for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and again in 2005 for Bronson Methodist Hospital.
Randy’s contributions to education are equally impressive. As Associate Dean of Business at Stevens-Henager College, he managed the growth of the online division from 600 to over 5,000 students within three years, while increasing faculty from 10 to 130. He led major projects, including the implementation of the CampusVue Student Information System, which standardized operations across 23 campuses. Randy’s dedication to enhancing learning environments also included embedding eBooks in all courses and redefining support structures to ensure student success.
In addition to his educational administrative accomplishments, Randy is an experienced educator, having taught as an adjunct professor at institutions like Salt Lake Community College, Westminster College, and Brigham Young University. His teaching portfolio spans business strategy, organizational behavior, finance, and executive development. Randy has further shared his expertise as a subject matter expert for MBA programs at Western Governors University, contributing to graduate-level course development in finance, economics, operations and supply chain management, and strategic management.
A published author, Randy created the “Curriculum Technologies Professional Development Series,” which includes Business Basics and Externship Excellence. Business Basics guides readers through the fundamentals of launching and sustaining a business, while Externship Excellence offers a roadmap for students to convert externship opportunities into career foundations. He was published in Naval Aviation News for his award winning contribution to corrosion control on aircraft at sea. His publications reflect his commitment to empowering others through accessible, practical insights.
Beyond his professional roles, Randy is an avid adventurer and “Chief Explorer and Fun Seeker.” He has participated in multiple Century bike rides, and triathlons. He built and flew his own airplane for an aerial photography business he created. Since retiring in 2015, he has dedicated himself to exploring North America’s diverse landscapes, documenting and sharing his experiences as an FAA licensed professional drone pilot. He uses these adventures to pass on life skills to his grandchildren, demonstrating his values of freedom, independence, and family legacy. Randy’s personal mission to inspire a sense of the value of life-long learning for others. Randy’s qualifications are supported by an MBA in Behavioral Finance from the University of Phoenix, along with post-graduate coursework in Military Joint Operations Planning and Strategy at the Naval War College. His academic achievements, including high GPAs and a research thesis on the psychology of stock performance expectations, highlight his lifelong commitment to learning and intellectual rigor. He has held NASD series 6,7,and 8 licenses, and as a Registered Investment Advisor. He was a private pilot and current holder of an FAA-107 Remote Pilot license. He is also a licensed Light Rail Operator.
Today, Randy actively serves on the US Navy League Board, staying connected to the Maritime community in Alabama, and through affiliations with the Naval Aviation Tailhook and A6 Intruder Associations. His professional affiliations, combined with his extensive expertise across industries such as defense, finance, education, healthcare, and transportation, make him a sought-after thought leader and advisor.
