Paul Gugel is a seasoned attorney and corporate executive with over 25 years of experience in corporate law, employment law, software law, and regulatory compliance. As General Counsel for SunUp America, LLC, a residential solar construction company, Gugel oversaw all legal aspects of business operations, including regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, employment law, and litigation management. A key driver of innovation within the company, he was instrumental in the review of a generative AI-driven customer relationship management (CRM) tool, ensuring legal soundness while advancing the company’s technological capabilities.

Prior to his role at SunUp America, Gugel was Compliance Counsel for Leonard Capital Management, Inc., a $350 million hedge fund. There, he led SEC compliance audits, conducted fiduciary oversight, and prepared detailed management reports, safeguarding investor assets and ensuring regulatory adherence. His extensive experience also includes serving as Counsel for Landmark Development, LLC, where he negotiated high-value real estate transactions, and as General Counsel for NeuroHealth Management LLC, where he developed corporate governance policies and ensured compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations.

Gugel’s early career saw him in senior legal positions at several prominent organizations, including Perry Johnson, Inc., where he guided risk management and regulatory compliance, and Kelly Services, Inc., a $2 billion multinational staffing firm, where he handled employment law matters affecting over 300,000 employees nationwide. His work at Kelly Services also encompassed M&A due diligence, investor relations, and franchise negotiations, providing him with a well-rounded foundation in corporate legal strategy.

Beyond his executive roles, Gugel has also shared his expertise in academia, serving as an adjunct instructor at Oakland University’s School of Business Administration, where he taught courses in business law and ethics.
