Executive and Board Director Profile
Michel Brûlé is a business owner and senior executive with more than 26 years of experience in transportation, industrial operations, infrastructure, business development, and organizational leadership. He brings boards the perspective of someone who has worked from the frontline to the executive level and has successfully built and scaled a specialized Canadian business.
Michel is Chief Executive Officer of VB Group and a partner in Véronneau Solutions Inc., where he participates directly in strategy, financial decision-making, organizational development, operations, customer relationships, and business growth. Under his leadership, the company expanded its training capacity from approximately five participants per month to more than 100, while extending its reach across Canada and into international markets.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Michel served as Director of Canada for Pandrol, a global railway infrastructure company. He led national commercial activities, market development, customer strategy, and key industry relationships. Earlier, he spent approximately eleven years with Canadian National Railway in progressively responsible operational and engineering-management positions, including Senior Terminal Manager—Operations and Engineering. There, he led multidisciplinary teams in a complex, highly regulated, safety-critical, and heavily unionized environment.
Michel’s experience gives him particular strength in strategy, operational risk, regulatory compliance, safety governance, labour relations, organizational growth, capital investment, workforce development, and commercial performance. He sits on industry committees and is regularly invited to contribute as an adviser on operational, regulatory, training, and organizational matters.
His leadership extends beyond technical knowledge and executive experience. Michel is exceptionally skilled at understanding people, building trust, and navigating different social and professional environments. He connects naturally with frontline employees, technical specialists, union representatives, customers, entrepreneurs, and senior executives. Calm and analytical under pressure, he listens before forming conclusions, keeps an open mind, and is comfortable challenging assumptions without creating unnecessary conflict.
These qualities allow Michel to bring people with different interests and perspectives into productive conversations. In the boardroom, he contributes independent judgment, practical operational insight, commercial awareness, and an ability to identify the human factors that often determine whether a strategy succeeds or fails.
Fluent in English and French, Michel holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal, complemented by studies in finance, economics, and international business in Quebec and the Netherlands.
Michel is pursuing board appointments in transportation, infrastructure, industrial services, manufacturing, workforce development, and other organizations facing growth, transformation, regulatory exposure, or complex stakeholder environments. Although railway has defined much of his career, his value is broader: he understands how to scale organizations, evaluate risk, develop people, build consensus, and turn strategic objectives into measurable results.
