Published on:

Marco Andreas Julitz is a distinguished transformation executive and global strategist with more than two decades of experience guiding multinational corporations through large-scale operational change, supply chain excellence, and serving as a catalyst for diverse organizational transformations at Supply Chain and Business Development. His career is defined not only by his mastery of complex systems and governance frameworks but also by his commitment to leading with empathy, trust, and purpose. From his early days advising and championing operational excellence for site logistics leadership in Brazil to his current leadership role overseeing distribution operations for Bayer Crop Science across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Marco has consistently demonstrated his ability to build sustainable solutions, optimize global networks, establish new functions and foster cultures of accountability and growth.

Born with dual German and Brazilian citizenship, Marco’s international perspective has been central to his professional success. His ability to navigate diverse markets across EMEA, Latin America, and beyond has enabled him to bridge cultural divides and establish frameworks that work seamlessly across geographies. Multilingual in Portuguese, German, Spanish, and English, he is a truly global leader who understands that supply chain operations and organizations succeed only when people are empowered to contribute openly and authentically.

Marco’s professional journey began at Bayer in Rio de Janeiro, where he gained first-hand experience in site logistics management and compliance. Early on, he established himself as an innovator by leading the implementation of SAP-WM/MM based barcoding and master data automation while outsourcing industrial logistics—pioneering systems, processes and structures that became benchmarks across the organization. These formative years taught him the importance of both precision and adaptability in managing complex flows of materials, people, and information, laying the foundation for his later work in enterprise transformation.

As his career progressed, Marco took on increasing responsibilities across Latin America. In roles spanning business development, portfolio management, and regional supply chain leadership, he played a vital role in aligning commercial strategies with operational execution. He became known for his ability to create governance structures where none had existed before, introducing standardized decision-making processes, performance dashboards, and SLA-driven accountability across multiple countries. These initiatives not only enhanced visibility and ownership but also positioned Latin America as a global benchmark for sales forecasting accuracy, material management performance and service-level reliability.

His appointment as Chief of Staff and Product Supply VS Program Lead marked a pivotal point in his career. Based in Germany for a year, focusing on concept development and continued years in Brazil for deployment in Latin America, Marco was entrusted with supporting Global and Regional COO and CSCO in the execution of global transformation initiatives, most notably the TRUST program—a worldwide supply chain initiative aimed at addressing market volatility, supply chain inefficiencies, and growth constraints in the agrochemical industry. His leadership in implementing global material planning processes, establishing new Supply Chain governance structures, and redesigning distribution networks demonstrated his capacity to align top-level strategy with regional realities, ensuring successful adoption across continents.

In his transition to global leadership, Marco took on the role of Global Inventory and Material Manager at Bayer Crop Science, where he managed a €7.5 billion portfolio and aligned practices across APAC, LATAM, EMEA, and North America. Following the Monsanto acquisition, he successfully integrated KPIs and governance processes to strengthen alignment between finance and supply chain functions worldwide. During this time, he built performance management communities, developed knowledge-sharing content, and streamlined both inventory management and financial forecasting, driving measurable improvements by reducing stockouts, cutting excess costs, and delivering enterprise-wide value. In partnership with Planning Excellence, he also spearheaded the creation of advanced simulation and projection tools that quantified material planning impacts—integrating cash flow, cost efficiency, and sales trade-offs—empowering leaders with strategic, data-driven decision-making capabilities.

Currently, as EMEA distribution operations governance & CoE Lead at Bayer Crop Science, Marco is responsible for orchestrating large-scale distribution strategies across 94 countries and a €3.5 billion portfolio. He has spearheaded more than 45 optimization projects, producing multimillion-euro savings while improving service levels. His establishment of a new trade compliance, warehouse and transportation CoE for the region reflects his commitment to transparency, governance, and resilience, ensuring Bayer’s logistics framework is fit for the future while meeting the challenges of digital transformation and ESG imperatives.

Marco’s influence extends beyond operations into the realm of leadership philosophy. He is deeply committed to cultivating environments of psychological safety where teams feel empowered to speak openly, take risks, and learn from mistakes. His mission is not only to transform businesses but to nurture cultures of trust, transparency, and growth that enable both individuals and organizations to thrive. This human-centered approach has earned him recognition as both a visionary strategist and a mentor to emerging leaders worldwide.

His personal achievements outside the corporate sphere reflect the same discipline and resilience that characterize his professional career. A triathlete and Ironman competitor, Marco brings the mindset of endurance, preparation, and perseverance to every aspect of his life. He views challenges as opportunities to test one’s limits, both individually and collectively, and applies these principles to inspire high-performance teams in dynamic and often volatile business environments.

With a foundation in business administration from PUC-Rio de Janeiro, an MBA in Strategic and Economic Project Management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas, and executive education at the Wharton School, Marco has paired academic rigor with real-world application. His certifications in Lean Six Sigma Champion, Scaled Agile Lean Portfolio Management, Scaled Agile Scrum Master, Digital Transformation, SCOR-DS, Customs Compliance, Integrated Management System, Global Supply Chain Mgt.
