    Originally from Cd. Juárez, México, Luis moved to the United States to pursue his academic aspirations, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). While at MIT, he showcased his multifaceted talents by playing the violin with the MIT Symphony, a passion he continues to cherish alongside his professional endeavors.

    Luis began his career in México as a manufacturing engineer, progressing into roles in supplier quality and product engineering. His expertise took him around the globe, collaborating with international suppliers and enhancing medical device designs while maintaining exceptional quality standards. This global perspective laid the foundation for his future contributions to organizations at the forefront of innovation.

    In 2010, Luis joined Medtronic as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, marking his return to the Greater Boston area. During his tenure, he refined his continuous improvement skills, culminating in his certification as a Master Black Belt. Among his many achievements, Luis led initiatives to optimize catheter production processes, resulting in significant labor reductions and improved yields. His work also included a transformative stint in Galway, Ireland, where he further honed his expertise in Lean methodologies.

    Luis’s adaptability was evident when he transitioned to Raytheon in 2018, diving into the defense industry. There, he collaborated with union employees, obtained DoD secret security clearance, and managed impactful projects, including the Qatar Early Warning Radar facility expansion. His data-driven approach improved key performance indicators and automated reporting processes, driving operational efficiency across the board.

    In 2020, Luis took on a leadership role at Biogen as a Continuous Improvement Lead. Over four years, he developed a global Continuous Improvement roadmap, quantified over $20 million in savings, and led cross-functional kaizen events in Switzerland and the U.S., aligning operational strategies with the company’s global supply chain priorities.

    Currently serving as a Senior Process Improvement Engineer at Fresenius Medical Care, Luis continues to leverage his Lean Six Sigma expertise to identify inefficiencies and eliminate waste within the organization. His role underscores his commitment to fostering operational excellence and supporting stakeholders in achieving their strategic objectives.

    In addition to his corporate contributions, Luis is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he teaches Engineering Project Management. His courses empower engineers and business managers with the skills to excel in technology-driven environments. Teaching has been both a privilege and an extension of his dedication to nurturing future leaders in the field.
