Published on:

Lisa Fleischer is a highly accomplished legal executive, board director, and governance leader whose career spans more than thirty-five years of advising organizations through periods of growth, transformation, regulatory complexity, and strategic change. Throughout her distinguished career, she has earned a reputation for combining exceptional legal acumen with practical business judgment, enabling executive leadership teams and boards of directors to make informed decisions that balance innovation, risk, operational excellence, and responsible governance. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in integrity, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to creating sustainable value for organizations, shareholders, employees, and the communities they serve.

Currently serving as Chief Legal Officer for the United States at DLL (the world’s largest global international equipment finance company), Lisa oversees all aspects of the company’s legal operations while providing strategic counsel to executive leadership on matters involving corporate governance, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, commercial transactions, litigation oversight, employment law, and operational strategy. In this executive role, she serves as a trusted advisor across multiple business functions, helping shape corporate policies and governance frameworks while ensuring the organization successfully navigates an increasingly complex regulatory environment. Her responsibilities extend beyond legal counsel, encompassing enterprise-wide leadership that supports operational excellence, business transformation, and long-term strategic growth.

Lisa’s experience as Corporate Secretary and executive legal advisor has positioned her at the center of board governance throughout much of her career. She has worked extensively with boards of directors, executive committees, and senior management teams to strengthen governance practices, enhance fiduciary oversight, and improve organizational accountability. Her comprehensive understanding of board dynamics allows her to bridge the gap between legal compliance and business strategy, ensuring governance decisions support both regulatory obligations and organizational objectives. This unique combination of legal expertise and business leadership has made her an invaluable resource in boardrooms across the financial services industry.

In addition to her executive leadership responsibilities, Lisa currently serves as a Director on the Board of Philips Medical Capital, the financing arm of Philips International, where she provides strategic oversight and governance guidance while supporting financial integrity, organizational performance, and sustainable growth. She collaborates closely with fellow directors and executive leadership to evaluate strategic initiatives, assess enterprise risks, and strengthen stakeholder relationships through sound governance practices. Her board service reflects both her passion for organizational leadership and her ability to contribute meaningful insight across finance, healthcare, and corporate governance.

Prior to joining DLL, Lisa served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Sallie Mae Bank (the nation’s largest student loan provider), where she directed all legal and regulatory matters while serving as trusted counsel to executive leadership and the Board of Directors. Her earlier leadership roles at Advanta Bank Corporation and Advanta Leasing Services further established her expertise in corporate law, commercial lending, equipment leasing, credit, collections, bankruptcy, restructuring, human resources and business operations. During one of the organization’s most challenging periods, she successfully oversaw the wind down of an entire leasing business while managing workforce reductions, regulatory obligations, litigation, and operational continuity. Earlier in her career, Lisa also served with Canon Financial Services, where she managed legal review for complex multi-million-dollar public finance lease transactions and provided corporate legal counsel supporting major commercial initiatives.

Lisa’s breadth of expertise spans financial services, technology finance, healthcare, commercial lending, collections, corporate governance, risk management, human resources, litigation oversight, compliance, contract negotiation, employment law, and regulatory affairs. Her legal knowledge is complemented by extensive operational experience, allowing her to evaluate challenges from both legal and business perspectives. Throughout her career, she has served on numerous executive leadership committees, including Risk, Compliance, Human Resources Governance, Diversity and Inclusion, and Executive Management committees, demonstrating her ability to influence enterprise-wide decision-making far beyond the traditional legal function.

Her professional influence extends well beyond the organizations she has served. Lisa has been deeply involved in the Association of Corporate Counsel Greater Philadelphia Chapter, serving as President, President-Elect, Board Member, and Immediate Past President. During her tenure as President, she led an organization representing more than 1,800 in-house counsel while expanding educational programming and strengthening professional development opportunities for legal professionals throughout the region. She also serves on the Board of Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia, reflecting her commitment to community service and helping improve the lives of children and families in need. These leadership positions demonstrate her belief that professional success is strengthened through service, mentorship, and community engagement.

Lisa’s international experience further enhances her value as an executive and board member. Having worked across Europe, including the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Brazil, Australia, and India, she understands the complexities of operating within diverse regulatory environments and multicultural business landscapes. This global perspective enables her to advise organizations navigating international growth, cross-border transactions, and global governance challenges while maintaining sensitivity to varying legal, cultural, and operational considerations.

A graduate of The George Washington University Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctor, Lisa is admitted to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey and served as In-House Counsel in Delaware. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Delaware, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa and earned an executive coaching certificate from a UK University. Her educational foundation provides the economic, legal, and analytical framework that has supported decades of executive leadership and strategic decision-making.

Beyond her executive accomplishments, Lisa is passionate about health and wellness, maintaining an active lifestyle through fitness and personal development. She enjoys coaching and mentoring young professionals as they develop their careers and leadership capabilities. She is equally passionate about advancing women in leadership, participating in public speaking engagements focused on empowering female professionals to pursue executive roles and board service. Her personal mission reflects a desire to leverage decades of executive and international experience to help organizations strengthen governance, successfully navigate transformation, and build resilient, high-performing businesses.

Today, Lisa actively seeks additional board opportunities where she can contribute her extensive legal, governance, operational, and strategic leadership experience. She believes the most successful organizations are those that combine ethical leadership with thoughtful governance, sound risk management, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
